The Large Hadron Collider

1
Did anyone watch End: Day by the BBC? What a load of rubbish. But at the same time, what a load of fun! However I find the final ending a little far-fetched. But it was also the first time I discovered that the Hadron Collider is infact a real piece of technology being developed and does hold the possibility to create micro-blackholes. Is the world going to end in May at some point during these experiments? Most likely not, but why is such a scientific marvel so scarcely publicised? Not only is it a new way for humanity to destroy itself, but it also could lead to some significant discoveries.

Last time I checked, I'm pretty sure the only thing that would destroy micro black holes (and there will be micro black holes) would be Hawking radiation. And the last time I checked, which was a while ago, Hawking radiation hadn't been proven to exist in any way, shape, or form.

If Hawking radiation has been proven to exist, please let me know.

Stranglets, however, do not.

Here's the programme about the Hadron Collider for those of us unaware:

Note that the date mentioned (November 26th) has been moved forward to May this year.

BUT I think this is of more pressing concern to us as our solar system begins to pass through one danger region of the galaxy:

Because, if I recall correctly, it hasn't been proven once to exist.

So, if they create a micro black hole and Hawking radiation does exist, yipee. However, if they create a micro black hole and it doesn't exist, well....

There is no experimental evidence, but there is ample theoritical evidence for it. Yes, its theoritical evidence, but for crying out loud, there's every chance that it will exist, and almost no chance that it won't. Its like worrying about strangelets.
