I'm not posting this to brag, but I ended up pulling off a 1600 on the test. And guess what? I got rejected from two schools I applied to. Colleges are putting less and less emphasis on the SAT; in short, don't worry about it too much. Just go in and do your best. What colleges do look at is how you did over four years of high school, and sometimes even that isn't enough; I managed to hold a #1 rank at my high school for all 4 years, and yet the aforementioned rejections. However, the one college I applied to and that I now attend, the University of Delaware, sent me a letter of glowing acceptance and invited me to take part in a scholarship competition for 100 prospective students out of their 23,000 applicants. College admissions is one of the most convoluted, twisted systems in existence. You can have great grades, a good SAT score, and a good mix of activities, and you will still most likely get rejected from at least one school. My best advice is to relax and go with the flow; once you get those applications in, it's not your problem anymore, so why worry? :)

I am an all district football player (offensive linemen for position). I wonder if that will do me any good? If it could get me into rice.....

So is what you guys are saying is that the SAT is affecting people less and less? I sure hope so because I diddnt do so good on the PSAT's (1200) I took but I do have a near perfect GPA. I will be taking the SAT later on this year.

It'll definitely help. And your SAT scores are generally higher than the PSAT, I believe. I had a 1260 or so on the PSAT, and I took the SAT cold and got a 1400 two years later.

erk... PSAT's go from 40 to 160 combined...

Problem is, my GPA, is a 2.225... Usually my report cards spell DAD on them... This term was the first time in 8 years, that i haven't gotten ANY D's, or F's...

Hippo, I took my PSATs 4 years ago and my scores were definitely over 1200... maybe it's just your school system/state/region doing this?

Yeah, I forget why they added that... and standarized essay tests are dangerous.

I watch my mouth outside, generally. Why are we censored in here of all places? I said it that way to make a point!
