First Pics of the Apocalypse

Ok.. here are my first pic of the Apocalypse from Truespace. It is very plain at the time being, but, not for long. :D

Here is the Desription "The Shivan Dreadnought Apocalypse is the most feared ship in the GTVA's history, and yet it is also the most amazing. The 11 Kilometer long Behemoth is powered by a Fusion reactor, and we belive that this was discovered by the Shivans when they destroyed the Star of Capella. The Fusion reactor creates a star in its center thus giving it near unlimited power for firing it's huge front beam cannon. We also belive that this is the Shivan Command ship, and possibly if we can destroy it, it would put an end to the Shivans once and for all.And in theory if we can puncture the core of the reactor the resulting explosion would destroy the Warship. Our only hope is to get the GTVA Atlas and the SOC Omega to attack it at the same time. And when this happens the battle will shake the foundation of the universe."

And for all that say it is too large or too powerful, it is not. I will also create two other warships the GTVA Atlas "9.3 kilometers" and the SOC Omega "8.5 kilometers" and it will be one cool battle if I ever make my campaign. 8)

Uh, yeah. Generally anything larger than the Colossus is both unnecessary and impossible to balance to make the game interesting. The shape isn't bad (a tad too pronounced on the spikes and WAY too low poly, but otherwise not bad) but you may look at making it a corvette instead of a supercap. More interesting, and more likely that it will get used. You need to work on the technobabble too, the standard powerplant in Freespace is fusion IIRC.

I'll let Raa tear the concept apart, now to nail the description.

First, that first sentence is one poor choice of words after another. It isn't amazing, it's horrifying. It would be amazing if we were the ones who built it. But we weren't, it's a Shivan ship. The Colossus was amazing. This is sheer terror... if there's more than one. Otherwise, the GTVA can probably put together enough craft to stop it. The Sathanas, once disarmed, was a floating target. If that thing goes for the throat and the core systems, it's toast.

Second, the last couple of sentences need to be removed. Utterly. Just delete them. That's the sort of thing you say in a briefing.

Third, SOC isn't a ship designator... at least, not the type you want. That's a Special Operations Cruiser. Try SODn.

Fourth, fusion reactors aren't an unlimited power source. Power yield is based on size, and even then, the fact is that most ships are probably using capacitors that are recharged. Besides, if I remember correctly, fusion power cores aren't anything new to the GTVA, Unless everyone's been using a fission reactor (unlikely) they've got at least fusion tech. We're not that far away from it now, certianly we could master it in a few centuries. However, if you blow the reactor, that thing is going to go up in one hell of a boom, if the reactor's large enough.

Besides, the GTVA can make antimatter in fairly large quantites, which is expensive and energy intensive, from the description of the Helios. They might even be able to deploy anti-matter reactors, which are far more powerful than fusion reactors.

Last, Inferno's done the really big ships already. You're making this purely a capship slugging match. The player's reduced to watching deus ex machina. Inferno gives the player the chance to make a difference. From the way you're describing this, it's a light show with occaisional bouts of sheer annoyance as you get shot at by somebody.

Edit: Okay, maybe I will nail the concept...

Seriously, try something else first off. We need more cruisers and corvettes. Or some new Vasudan fighters.

Edit 2: After rereading your post and looking at the ship itself, I have a few more comments.

First of all, just because there are ships around that can take it down doesn't automatically make it 'balanced'.

Second, that's not a bad design at first glance. That might do well as a corvette, for example, or even a destroyer. The only problem is, the number of superdreadnoughts floating around is ridiculous. Makes me feel like I'm in the middle of the pre-WWI naval arms race, sometimes. The point I'm trying to get across is a lot of people are tired of seeing a modeller pop onto the scene with a brand new super ship. A lot of people don't like playing missions around them. I'm not one of them, but I don't like missions that aren't fun... and all too many of them aren't.

Don't get discouraged. :) As a first model it's quite decent, but people get tired of super-juggernoughts.

I'd suggest that you follow the above posts advice and start out making gunships, cruisers, freighters, transports, fighters and bombers first. They're the ships that really 'flesh out' the universe of a mod/campaign and provide a bigger sense of realism to it. They're also a great source of modeling practice.
Keep practicing and improving, and you could end up making some stunning ships. :)

And I will make some new destroyers and corvettes. But, You don't expect the Shivan command ship to be a destroyer. And I will work on the Description, But in my campaign then again if I ever make it, this is going to be the end for the Shivans, No more, get what I am Saying. Plus it will have so twists in it. Ok... Like when they can't destroy it, they Run the Atlas into it. And then it still don't destroy it, but it takes out the Armor around the Reactor and then they shoot it. But, that is not the end, the Star in the reactor goes supernova. I have a ok storyline, but I probly won't make it for a while. And thanks for saying the Model looks good. :D. And then I will change the name no big deal. And my campaign will feature some of my flyable cruisers. 8)
