Here is a Dell system I am considering buying. It's top of the line components (not second hand or ebay stuff) and going for about 450 pounds. Granted it's not the latest hardware, but I cannot afford nor need that kind of power.

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66, 1066Mhz, 3MB Cache
Windows Vista
2GB 667Mhz Duel-Channel DDR2 SDRAM
250GB SATAII 3GB/s HDD
22 Inch Widescreen LCD
16x DVD/RW SATA
256mb ATI Radeon HD 3450
Plus usual network/sound hardware
1 year warranty

Good price?

Sounds not too bad, offhand. Be careful with dell, though, I think they're a bit overpriced. It's a shame Komplett are, AFAIK, out of business as I think they did me a pretty good deal on my PC.

Similar to my setup by the sounds of it (E6750 C2D?) - which i'm generally happy with, the odd slowdown on Far Cry 2 notwithstanding - but the graphics card is a smidgen old. Albeit how much do Dell price their LCDs at? Because I'm wondering if that'd be overpriced (hey, I can sell you a very nice but very heavy 19" Iiyama CRT with cracking quality... ;) )

The thing is Dell is trustworthy compared with just about every second-hand/internet portal computer. And because I'm in unfamiliar territory, I have NO idea what are good/bad brands in Korea. There are just endless hardware brands. One thing I do know though is that LG computers are not worth the price tag.

Keep in mind I'm ordering from Korea, not abroad. Imagine the postal charges? It'd DEFINITELY be not worth it that way around. I've been recommended Dell many times here. And because of the stronger pound right now, now is a good time... Oh and yes the LCD really knocks up the price tag. There are similar systems (without monitors) with bigger hard drives and more memory for less than the same total price.

What's the LCD monitor cost on it's own? I got a really good 23" LCD for a decent price at the start of the year or so. (just wish I could remember the model and price... or find the receipt. :| )

150 for the 22" wide screen. I could probably get a monitor separate, but... an LCD is pretty expensive no matter where I get it. And I need the desk space.

I'm pretty sure you could get a better monitor for same or less, myself. Or do you have a newish TV which could take a PC cable?

No, but I could look into getting a TV/Monitor - Any recommendations?

Dell is an antonym of high quality.

Really? I've had three Dell systems over the years and found them all to be reliable and of good quality. The system I'm using now is Dell. Sure, I've had good custom built setups too but those were very weak in comparison.

They use cheap parts. Well, they used to. I'm pretty sure that they outsource everything, now, so it (the quality) could have changed since I last checked (it was a while ago).

Living in fairyland, mate.

Anyway it seems they've got some better offers up now without monitors included - so I could get a cheapo LCD from somewhere else and to hell with it.

I have an AG Neovo, it's a pretty good low-cost LCD.

Dell uses good stuff. Best of all they'll come to your home to fix the damn thing if it breaks under warranty, which is more than can be said for most companies.

They are also doing a system for the same price, without the monitor but with:

Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz (2.4GHz, 8MB L2, 1066MHz FSB)
4GB (4x1GB) 667MHz DDR2
500GB SATA II
Radeon HD 3650

Tempting..
