I got Halo 3 recently and played it. Cause I rarely play XBox Live, I found the campaign disappointing. Since I know nobody cares on this forum whether I bash mainstream games (or care what I post at all), I figured I'd post a random post on why I thought the Halo 3 campaign sucked major ass (sucked ass majorly?).
First, there were several things that were completely left out of Halo 3 that were included in Halo 2 and Halo CE. They left out a lot of the old vehicles and weapons, as well as almost completely neglecting the Elites (the story could have progressed in almost exactly the same way if the Elites were replaced with more Marines). Compared to Halo 2, Halo 3 had very little new material. In Halo 2, we saw some new Covenant species, like the Drones and the Brutes, a lot of new weapons, like the Fuel Rod Cannon and the energy sword, and some new miscellaneous enemies, like the Sentinel Enforcers. However, in Halo 3, we see no more Covenant stuff, the only modification notable to the Covenant is that the Brutes now wear armor (which falls off in an unbelievably unrealistic way).
Next gripe: The lack of unique enemies. In Halo 2, we had the Prophet of Regret, who you had to jump on and smack to death, the Heretic leader who had energy drones (or whatever they were) and Tartarus, who you had to avoid until his shields were (temporarily) neutralized by Johnson. In Halo 3, what did we have? 1 stupid random fight against a floating lightbulb the size of your fist. It seemed almost comical to be honest.
Finally, it was the complete lack of interesting plot twists. Seriously. Of all the fan hype I read on random websites over the net, like about Cortana betraying the MC (eventually she turns out to be just as nice as she was in the first game), Truth having a hidden agenda (still no explanation as to why he had to betray the Elites or why he's trying to blow up the universe) and Gravemind didn't even appear! I was led to believe that there would be some big ass fight against Gravemind with flying tentacles and new badass flood types spewing out of cracks in the wall, with lead flying everywhere and other Flood-related coolness like that, but instead all I was rewarded with at the end of the game was a battle with (as I said before) a cute little lightbulb and another timed Warthog run. In fact, there wasn't any Flood-related coolness at all! They just appeared, sent in endless waves of the same mutated zombies who I slaughtered with my shotgun, and then died. If the Gravemind was so powerful and determined to stop the Master Chief, then why didn't he send something more deadly than a few space zombies? As I also said before, the elites appeared for 2 missions for 3 minutes and the Arbiter could have been just another Marine. Of all the story lines Bungie could have chosen, they chose one of the most predictable. I could almost see the Flood-infested cruiser entering the atmosphere in Floodgate.
Yeah, theater and forge rocked, I'll give you that, but the campaign sucked major ass (sucked ass majorly?).

By the way, we need a strike-through ([s][/s]) code.

Heh, the only ground pounder I play is America's Army, which is free... So I wouldn't know, but due to your review I'll stay away from it...
