I have started making a new D3 campaign using only D3Edit and D3QuickTest. It will have 50 levels and 4 secret levels. I need to know whether I should make a gigantic MN3 file or make them separately.
I know how to do custom music and briefings in D3, however, only the original Descent 3 OSF files can work when I try it (Even though the WAV files were on the right settings to be converted and the MusicTester played them alright). Also, briefings can't work even though the tutorial one can in that briefing creator.
Therefore, the new campaign will only have original D3 music in it, and the briefings will be on MS Word, along with the full story.
All I've done on it so far is create the first bit of level 38 (SMC Military Depot). I will make the levels be very good too.

Where are you getting the ideas for 50 levels! I bearly have a half-idea for one. I suppose your up for a challenge.
See ya in 'bout ten years when you finish!

heh, 50 levels? obviously someone hasn't made a level. I am working on *1* level, and i'm guessing it would take me 6 months of non-stop working to get it all done. Of course, i'm not working on it alll the time because i have school, D&D, etc, etc. so i'm guessing i'll have it done in about a year
. Seriously though, making high quality levels takes a FREAKING long time! Ever heard of the phrase "Quality over Quantity"? Think about that, if you end up making 50, or even 10, they won't end up as good as if you made 3 or 4, or even 2. The thing is, people judge levels individually, and usually they will end up averaging all the levels and rating the series that way. The fewer levels, the better they are and, as a result, the more people like your levels. 2 great levels is WAY better than 50 mediocre ones. Really. Think "Quality over Quantity" over and over and over and over and over.......................... (and over)

For those who are interested: I will make the levels one by one, until they are good ones. I probably won't end up making 50, because that would take a long time. I was going to just make some mediocre levels to show themes on all the main moons and planets in the solar system, realistically. If I don't have enough time to make some, then I might upload plans of the levels for anyone who doesn't have an idea of a new level. I will just make level 1 and upload it first, to start the campaign off.

Heh, I stay away from single player. Because I have a habit of putting in lots of eye-candy in my levels, It would take me forever to make a single player mission.
But, I might make one in the summer. Stay tuned!
Oh, and my levels are at http://sectorgame.com/d3
Ok MD - You can reset your password again now.

My email address happens to be regulated by Haydock CLC security, which has literally banned everyone from sending and recieving emails. I need another way to find info on how to get my new password. I will be able to tell you if someone else has changed my password, if I still can't log in after I know the password. Therefore I can be told my new password over this forum without anyone else sneaking my username as their identity.
^This is as simple as I can put it, sorry for any complications.

Don't expect me to come up with anything like Mercenary Level 3 though, as that is just about the biggest, best, most complex and level anyone can make.
BTW, did Outrage manage to create their levels with a special editor (with the power to make Mercenary level 3), or did they too have to make everything one vertex at a time?

They made all their 3D stuff with 3DS Max IIRC.
I also am working on a SP campaign; I'm planning on it having somewhere around 17 levels, but much shorter than D3's campaign scripting-wise--some of the levels may take as long, but there won't be as many elaborate scripting tricks and the levels likely won't be quite as large; I'm relying on a mixture of custom weaponry and robots to keep the player interested in the fight. There will be a lot more action in the levels than in the standard D3 levels.
I have also learned a new D3edit building style that allows me to quickly and efficiently create D3 rooms with few to no errors and spectacular results. It's not so great for rock tunnels, but I use a slightly different method (and editor) for those.
