It's been around for a few years. If you had said "Never played it..", I'd have killed you. ;)

Ah, yes, that explains that comment.

And Top Gun, I and a lot of other Civ fans would like an explanation for that comment...

Civ? Spare me. :P Turn-based RTS? Can we all scream "Boring!"? How about barreling down a dark tunnel, pulsing your afterburner like crazy, moving in every which way, pursued by a whole stream of laser bolts and homing missiles? How about sneaking through the bowels of a subterranean mine, straining to hear your opponent, hoping you see them before they see you? How about the fantastic melee that is a Fusion free-for-all? How about the mind-knumbing power of the almighty Shaker? That's what gaming's all about. Put me in the cockpit of my Pyro-GX, put the stick in my hand, and I don't need anything else in the world. As we've always said, "Once you've tried Descent, you can never leave." :D

What can be funner than"Besides FS" Seeing your enemy 1500 feet below you, you can allmost feel yourself comming out of your seat, as your charge up behind him at blazing fast speed, and the knowing that you only have a few rounds of 20mm cannon left and you watch very closly to get in a perfect shot. He turns and twists trying to shake you off as you push you FW-190 to the limits and all of a sudden you fire, the bullets inpact his side and he burst into flames. Thats really enjoyable.

I've tried Descent. You will note I'm not buried in a mineshaft at the moment.

Besides, you just managed to combine two mutually exclusive terms, Top Gun...

WeatherOp, I can't even tell if you specified a specific game, but whatever it is, I'm guessing it's a flight sim. Yeah, that can be fun, but can you trichord in whatever an FW-190 is? 8)

Moonsword, I was aware of that as soon as I posted it. :P Let me rephrase that to say "turn-based strategy." At any rate, while I've played a few RTSs myself, I was never really into them. Maybe it's just my mindset, but who wants to point and click to move an army when you could be down there, swinging that sword yourself? Likewise, who would want to waste a space sim on trading and gathering resources when you could be blowing up Shivans? ;)

About Descent, what didn't you like about it? Did you play it long enough to get a feel for the controls? My quote was generally in reference to those who have played Descent for some time, moved on to other games, and come back. Just in the past few months, I've seen several veteran Descent players who hadn't been around for a long time come back and become active again. To those of us who love the game, it's more powerful than any drug. We may try other games, but as much as we try to stay away, the more we get drawn back. I've never experienced that hold with any other game. I consider Descent to have the steepest learning curve of any game I've played, and the results are the most worth it. Once again, this is just my opinion, but I love to force it on the rest of the world at a moment's notice, as you may have found out. :P

I play it from time-to-time, I just don't play too much. It's not my favorite series. That's not to say I don't enjoy the game.
