Abstract thoughts - DNA

Think about this :-

In the lifetime of the Earth, it has collided with 1 planet, about 50 comets, several Asteroids, untold meteorites. It has survived at least 20 Ice Ages, it has had geological changes on a Global scale. It survived 'Hypercanes' in the Jurassic period (Hurricanes with windspeeds equalling the speed of sound). It survived a massive oceanic upheaval where the atmosphere increased 20% in methane in the space of under 1000 years. It has survived extinctions that killed off 96% of ALL life.

My DNA has fought, bitten and clawed it's way through more fire and Brimstone than the Bible could ever throw at it.

I'm proud to have evolved :D

Which one would that be?
It can't be the moon, I know that.

Nope, it was Mars, about 6-7 Billion years ago, though, strangely enough, it created the Moon ;)

I'm not proud to have evolved. I have a big nose.
Ninety-nine percent of women kiss with their eyes closed; which is why it's so difficult to identify a rapist.

You'd rather be the inbred progeny of a mudman? Your choice but put that way I'd rather come from the ape to be honest.

I don't think it was. I know we hit something but it was an unnamed planetoid that later became part of Earth. And it can't be 6-7 Billion years ago cause the sun's only 5 Billion anyway :D

Eh? I never heard of this.

Or perhaps God went through a lot of work to tame the earth and ensure that humans could eventually live there. ;)

The seas were a lot warmer during the Jurassic period, that created far higher pressure zones than are created today.

And as for God, possibly, but if so, he slaughtered untold billions of innocent lifeforms to carve a path for us ;)

And the Earth still isn't calm, we are just in a quiet phase, the magnetic poles are already showing signs of flipping (they've 'stopped working' twice of late) which means that in about 600 years time North will be South and vice versa). This usually coincides with an Ice-Ago, though they are not, as far as it is know, caused by each other.

Whilst the poles are flipping we are going to have periods of 24-48 hours where the Earth has no detectable Magnetic poles. Without an EM band to protect us, the warmer parts of the Earth are going to get enhanced levels of UV radiation, so keep that hat on Black Wolf and VA ;)

So, things are swinging back and forth at an amazing rate. Mankind leapt to the fore very quickly from an evolutionary standpoint, but then, he had to, the History of every dominant species before us tells us that you only get a pretty short space of time before Earth moves on, and you adapt or die.
