Quarentine

1
well, im finally going to write out the intro for Quarentine (my own, personal campaign theme :) ill develope it someday) so you people can, well, see poll options

in this campaign, you are the leader of (so far unnamed) merc group. your name is Reginald Farrell, and you are running a 2-year contract with the GTVA, which will come due in about 2 months. (from the end of this set of logs)

(this is a lengthy post, you have been warned  )

25 Feb, 2370
"*Squadron leader Reginald Farrell, personal log.* My squadron, is getting restless. After the second Shivan incursion, chasing down the few rogue shivan ships that escaped, and capturing the last of the NTF fanatics has seemed very.. well, boring. My boys are not ones to sit idly by while others fight, nor sit idly by ever. Last week, we found a Shivan Ravana-class destroyer hiding in the Aldebaran system, trying to build up some small fighter force. the 159th managed to disable and capture it, but the hull buckled when they tried to cut through it. I guess their boys did their job too well. End log."

3 Mar, 2370
"*Squadron leader Reginald Farrell, personal log.* I just got wind of a disturbing peice of news. That ravana ship had been unaccounted for. Nobody had seen a Ravana get past out blockades at Cappela, and no Ravanas had been inside allied space before the Cappela supernova. Strange. In lighter news, we finally got some decent fighters from Triton Dynamics. Cost me a good deal, but theyre nice: Banshees. Handy little buggers, they are. Damn hard to hit, too. End log."

10 Mar, 2370
"*Squadron leader Reginald Farrell, personal log.* I think i deserve to be smug. My boys captured a whole NTF fanatic convoy. Granted, its only 2 ships, and at that they were only full of some food and fighter parts, but still... *chuckle* end log."

13 Apr, 2370
"*Squadron leader Reginald Farrell, personal log.* This is very odd. Allied Command isnt contacting me at all. not for the last few weeks. This is unusual; the GTVA doesnt like mercenaries much, and will generally check up on me every other day. Also, it seems that nearly 20 ships, including the Aquiatane herself, have been 'reassigned'. I dont beleive a word of it. Nobody has seen hide nor hair, pardon the expression, of any of the 'reassigned' ships. Last I saw 'em, they were headed toward Delta Serpentis. Then, they vanished. End log."

16 Apr, 2370
"*Squadron leader Reginald Farrell, personal log.* Alright, this is almost frightening. I happened to have Jones's and Hallock's wings on patrol at both of the nodes exiting Delta Serpentis. They just reported in. They didn't see any ships leave the system, and I myself only just finished a full patrol of the entire system. Where did those warships go? Then, this became weirder. Both Jones and Hallock dissapeared. I received a partial transmission saying something about 'routine checkups'. Now I'm really concerned. I have filed an official complaint with the GTVA, and they just sort of shifted it aside. That was a week ago, no response. End log."

27 Apr, 2370
"*Squadron leader Reginald Farrell, personal log.* Dammit! 3 More GTVA ships have disappeared! It's all over the news, and this is getting stranger and stranger by the minute. I havn't reported that nearly 20 ships went into Delta Serpentis and didn't come out, but the GTVA seems to be keeping a tiringly close watch on me. I wish they wouldn't, i have to prepare for a surgical strike against a small pirate base. Granted, its more along the lines of a cargo container with fancy equipment inside it, but the GTVA still wants it disabled. It's odd, they never assigned me such mundane work before. End log."

29 Apr, 2370
"*Squadron leader Reginald Farrell, personal log.* What the... this goes beyond weird. About 6 of those 20 ships that dissapeared just came back. The others are listed as AWOL. The GTVA don't know that I rigged my own ships sensors to work much better. I noticed that all of those returning ships had some traces of battle damage on them. I didn't recognize the type. In addition, nearly all their flak ammo had been depleted. As if all that werent enough, my boys just got back from a sortie against a shivan cruiser. There ARE no shivan cruisers left! we cleaned them all out a long time ago. End log."

31 Apr, 2370
"*Squadron leader Reginald Farrell, personal log.* Good news! The GTVA has just announced plans to try to make contact with Earth again! We're planning to make a Knossos-based portal to stabilise the node. Better, the estimated time till its done is only 16 months! Earth! Finally! Home! End log..."

5 May, 2370
"*Squadron leader Reginald Farell, personal log.* I cant stop thinking about the disapearing ships. Where did they go? How did they come back? The Sol node is impassible, and no ships came out of the other two ways out. Then how did they get out??. Unless... OhGod... *Log terminated, crew member left room.*"

Sounds purty good, but you copyed me!!!! :x just kidding  .But, can you make it where you are not allways a merc? Something about being payed to do stuff don't feel right to me, kinda makes it sound like tacheon. I don't mind it, but I hope that you will make his life more inportant than just a merc. :)
The Only Thing faster than Lightning, is My Aim.

It wouldn't be bad even if you were a merc all the time. One thing, I don't understand some parts of it, but that is a good thing means lots of surprises! :D

*shrug* dont ask me.

[edit] next installment (only 1!)

"*Squadron leader Reginald Farrell, personal log.* I hate it when I'm right. I looked up everything I could find, but I found nothing. I'm trying to convince myself that it's only a myth, but that's easier said than done. It could... those ships that dissapeared... no, it's- it's only a myth... ONLY a myth... nothing more... nothing less...*Log ends.*"

BTW, i am making a minisite for this 'campaign'. its good practice for sitemaking, and i may as well. divulge some secrets about it. you know, the works. ill direct you guys to it once its done.

-and this campaign features a new race, too. heres some new(ish) features:
  • Reestablish contact with Terra in the most grim, realistic way yet.
    Many new MODs
Wreak havoc in surgican bombing strikes with the new addition of Ship Modules
Discover how the GTVA copes with the aftermath of the Cappela incident
Meet the GTVAs latest technological advancments with capital-ship missiles
Provide escort for long-range balistic warheads inbound across systems
    Return to Gamma Draconis
none of those are critical to teh storyline really, so dont worry. :)

Yeah, very grim, speaking of Grim were gonna turn you into a shivan and see how you think.

Yeah, that probly what you will do to the person playing this campaign :D And maybe once you make a site you can tell all of us that can't how to do it. :)

this thing just exploded in scale. in a matter of minutes of planning, the whole campaign went from 20-30 missions to well over 120. :| this thing is getting to be an epic...

on that topic, theres a small chance that this campaign will become a new GAME. a FPS/flight sim hybrid, most likely. well, without the references to FS stuff anyhow  keep your eyes open...

Just remember that guy who released his 99 mission campaign on HLP, and it was TERRIBLE...

20 is enough... Any more, and people WILL lose interest (if it even manages to be finished...)
