Try the VolitionWatch Archives. Definitely get Derelict and Homesick, they're great campaigns. Derelict 'feels' like the main campaign, very immersive. Homesick isn't quite as good in my opinio0n, but then, I didn't like the ending. I won't go into details as it would very much spoil the surprise.

Casualties of War is a good grab, as is the BWO demo (tis voice acted). LM 3 (Also voice acted) and 4 are fun too, and no, you don;t need to have played LM 1 and 2. I didn't particularly like Inferno, but many people dod, so if you have the bandwidth (It's over 100megs) it's probably worth the time.

It's pretty good, but something that's really nice is the variety of starships in there.

The story is supposed to improve a lot for Release 2.

Isn't the VW archives down? 'twas last time I checked...repeatedly.
  • -Derelict is by far the best released campaign. Almost as long as the main campaign with an excellent plot and some unpronouncable ship names :P Website

-Inferno is well liked by many. Almost a total conversion, set a long time after the main campaign. 160 megs download IIRC. Website

-Homesick is probably the most recently released campaign by Blaise Russel. Many people love it, I however found the missions tedious and buggy. Release Thread

-Casulties of War (COW) is another great campaign. Interesting mission designs, great models but unfortunately again pretty buggy. Website

-Babylon 5 Total Conversion is again pretty impressive. The missions are being reworked at the moment along with another campaign so you'll have to make do with user made campaigns for that. Website
Hope that helps :)

TopAce released something recently, check the thread in the HLP campaigns forum.

NOTE: Derelict is an exe, an installer. If you have the HOTU version, or some semi-legal version of FS, you might run into issues. Search on HLP for posts by Karajorma regarding Derelict. He put up the vp file ages ago, and it might still be on his server.

Warzone is good.
Homesick is nice too, but I haven't found the time to play all through it.

Also, make sure you download the SCP. For one, it makes MOD switching easier, and then their are the absolutely fabulous graphics.

Use WinZip, right-click on the .exe, and grab the data files (both the .vp's and the .tbl's), put them in a Mod folder, and you're done. Start a new pilot so you can see teh two new craft, if you like, along with the Ares.

ah, thanks. :)

ill take a look.

hmm, while off-topic, this is something thts been bothering me for EVER! is there any way to boost the screen resolution in FS1? its very irritating. at 640x480, the stars dissapear it im not turning, because theyre smaller than pixels. and its difficult to tell ships apart at large distances.

Well, 640 by 480 and 600 by 800 are the only resolutions FS1 handles... change them in the launcher...

Stars are caused by Anti-Aliasing, since it removes small pixels to improve performance, and when you fly strait, stars are a single pixel, and are removed... Don't remmber how to fix them...

He was talking about FS1 however, and now that i look at it, 480x640 seems to be the only option...
