Ke? Research paper per semester? Either whatever schools you're talking about get off incredibly light (And by research paper you just mean standard assignments/Essays that I'd get once every few weeks for every topic) or incredibly harsh (and by Research Paper you actually mean Research paper, That I'd get about twice in my entire education).

Sparhawk isn't a standard school. It's a private college prep school. We have something called synthesis each semester. Each genre of the project involves a paper atleast 7 pages. The one I did last semester was 16 pages. So we do have papers. As for the standardized tests, we're a private school and don't have to conform to the state tests and curriculum.
Elton John, Richard Dean Andserson, Jack O'Neill, and MacGyver rock this world.

I'm referring to the incredibly harsh kind. Most schools in my area have to do 2 per semester, including mine. The first semester one is basically a 8 page paper on a certain topic, just about it. The second semester one actually has to persuade the reader to a certain viewpoint(which almost every student ends up failing, go figure. This year I got a 96 though, pwnt)

Either my region is a bugass horrible, or you guys just are lucky shits :p
