Need Idea's for gathering money for a charity.

Ok, my schools principal is leaving, and when he was asked what he wanted as a leaving gift, he said he wanted the teachers and students to rasie funds for the Dutch chain of Make a Wish ( http://www.wish.org/ ), a charity for the terminally ill children, giving them one day of their wish. Now, my creativity has run out on how to gather funds. There are plenty of people without a project either, so there isn't much that would be too big. We have untill September 14th to complete the fundraising. There have been thoughts about doing a play to gather funds, but we are afraid that it'll take too long to get everyone organised, and too many people will drop because of actually having to do something outside school hours.

Any money making schemes are welcome. Everything has to be legal though, and starting capital seems not readily available. The school building ought to be, however.

Legal is quite important. There have been some idea's of setting up either a distellery or a dope lab in the chem department, but we decided against it. (If there was a still, the teacher assistants would siphon it off, and if there was dope, then the students would)

You could go for the boring sponsored walk option, or pick something more radical to do, like sponsored Lanathon (Lan Party), with breaks of 15 minutes every 2 hours to comply with Health and Safety, that way you'd be (a)indoors, (b)playing computer games and (c) using the schools money to do so, and (d) Getting a break every 2 hours to have a cuppa ;) To be Honest, if you planned to do it for 24 hours, I'd suggest looking further into H&S, but hey, it's a fun idea ;)

It has to be legal. According to Dutch law, the age of consent is normally 16, but the moment prostition is involved, the prostitute must be 18.

Not that I would consider something that drastical......

Lanathon sounds cool, but god, my eyes would be shot. I'll float the idea. And 24 hours is nothing, especially with 15 minutes every 2 hours. Give me enough caffeine, and I could go on for days!!

Do you have flatscreens at your school? You might find your headaches are being caused by the refresh rates on your monitor, and now that we have flatscreens at work, I've just realised how blurry a CRT monitor actually is :(
