I am looking for some free classical music to use as background music to some cutscenes for FSCZ. It doesn't really matter what artist, as long as the guy is dead for at least 70 years and the recordings have been made without copywriting something. It really, really needs to be public domain. If that wasn't an issue, I'd raid my parents' CD collection, but that isn't going to work because the recordings are all copyrighted. I can't play an instrument to record anything myself, so tabs or worthless.

any ideas?

You think somebody is going to care if you stuck 'Zadok the Priest' by Handel (a personal favourite of mine) as background music in a cutscene in a non profit mod? I'm sure if you just emailed the relevent people they'd give you permission. But then again I don't know toffee about copywrite issues so I'll shuttup :)

Actually, Classical music isn't public domain, as such. It's a common misconception though. The music itself from the great composers is, but the actual playing of it is copyrighted to the orchestra that recorded it. Still, I think shinobi's pretty much right - very few people will really care, or even know about it - I mean, how many classical, orchestral musicians do you think play FS2? :p

I agree here, as long as you are not making a profit from the music it shouldn't be a problem. I've heard a lot more 'modern' music used in demo movies/cutscenes before (the favourites seem to be Lord of the Rings & Master & Commander).
