Why did she even ask? Me thinks she was trying to start something....

And shame on the school for falling for it. And shame on the school for being so socially backwards in the first place.

O noes girl in tux run away!

You'd think the school would PREFER that what with the homophobic attitudes they have. A tux is far less revealing than most prom dresses, which schools try and faill to keep modest.

What, equal rights?

I mean, the whole Rosa Parks comparison would be hyperbole, but it's not like she asked for much - just to a) bring a female partner rather than male and b) wear trousers. It's not like they wanted to turn it into a foam party orgy.

I think you misunderstood me. I was attempting to put forth the notion that they just freaking go.

Okay, so maybe I don't live in Mississippi. But I'm pretty sure if that had happened at my prom, it's very unlikely anyone would have noticed.

Unlikely at best. They wouldn't have been the only girls dancing together though they would have been the only ones who danced together consistantly, nor would she have been the only girl who turned up in a tux, nor would a girl in a tux have been the most outrageous outfit (that honor goes to Hu with the top hat and pimp cane in addition to a white tux and whoever it was with the feather boa and ridiculous v-neck).
