I went to see The Who on saturday.

Man, it was amazing. Best concert I've been to in years, maybe ever. Helped that we were in the front section - only nine or ten rows back from the stage. They played all the songs I wanted to hear, did a massive big encore and then Pete Townsend and Roger Daltry did this sort of duet second encore thing - very cool. Zack Starkey was amazing on drums - the whole thing just worked.

But what amazed me was the fact that everything was so high energy, high quality - just amazing for guys who were, for the most part, pensioners. Certainly Daltry and Townsend, both of whom just went right off, but made no discernable mistakes or did anything less than 110%. It was a massive contrast for me as opp[osed to a Bob Dylan show I went to a couple of years back where his voice was so buggered he was barely understandable through most of his songs.

All in all, an awesome show, and one of the greatest bands in history finally came to Perth. So I'm stoked :D

EDIT - Oh yeah, nearly forgot. Counting Crows as the Support act. Pretty cool. I would have paid the ticket money for the Who alone, but the Crows were a nice freebie for sure.

Any favourites ? I really dig Eminence Front and yeah ok the CSI themes but I an't help they were used to front that tosh. And they remixed Baba O'Riely FFS!!

Guess I prefer the later stuff but I'm always exploring their work.

(IMO)
Aside from those; My Generation, Behind Blue Eyes, The Real Me, Another Tricky Day & The Seeker come to mind as goodies.

Oh, and Squeeze box & Pictures of Lily, more for the lyrics than the actual song.

They absolutely cranked out Who are you and Baba O'Reily, as well as Pinball Wizard. Opened witht he Seeker, which was pretty sweet. My Generation was cool, but hard to sing along to since they were fiddling with the timing a bit. Behind Blue Eyes was cool too, and, while it's not really my favourite song of theirs, they did You Better You Bet really well and got the crowd right into it, which was awesome.
