Hello! I wanted to say thank you for making such awsome levels for Descent 3.
I wanted to point out that the weapons page here: http://sectorgame.com/d3/hyperspace/index.php does not work.
Also, I am hosting basewars on my dedicated server, but my friend can not join as pheonix, as he always crashes when joining after level loaded. I am using D3server3 for the host, and I tested his profile and it seems to hold true only for his profile.
I uploaded his profile here: http://www.ghiness.com/Descent/erected_one.plt
Any ideas!
Thanks again.

I never got around to doing the weapon page. I might compile it someday.
Firstly, what are specs of the server and the pilot trying to join? Can he run Basewars on his local machine? (by starting a game) Also be sure to follow the server guide for Basewars, it's very strict and doesn't like to be tweaked with by server tools.

He crashes only when he's not using the pyro... He can play normally in basewars (by starting a game), and he can also join my server normally if he is using the pyro. I believe the crash is tied to his profile, as I have tried it myself with the same results on my own computer. This might be computer specs, but it doesn't explain why it crashes on my computer, when I can play fine with my other profiles in any ships.
For all it matters...
Client:
Celeron 2.5 GHZ
5200 Geforce PCI
512 MB ram
OpenGL used
Server:
P4 2.7 GHZ
(Video card unidentified)
512 MB ram
Server tool used
Test his profile for yourself, you might see what I am curious about.

Ahh I see, yeah, my other player profile became corrupt before. And I'm saying that he can not play with his profile on ships such as the pheonix, but he can on pyro. That's with that profile.
BTW, I'm trying to host basewars and hyperspace 24/7
. Server crashes rarely with D3server3, and everything seems fine on the client side.

Great
What parameters are you using? You can also run it in CO-OP with a few tweaks. I do recommend using the standalone dedicated though, I've found the server tool crashes more often in Basewars. You can get a template herehttp://sectorgame.com/d3/basewars.cfg also the file for making Basewars compatible with co-op can be picked up below, stick it in your Descent 3 dir:

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Ahh thanks very much.
Is it possible to make the dedicated show up on the trackers? Also, how do you start it up without server tools? I never done this before.
I'll be going away for two weeks, let me know! Coop will be hosted then aswell.
EDIT: Ahh nvm, you use the Servman32 program correct?

You could, but it's never been tried to my knowledge. Running a dedicated is fairly simple. Assuming your network is setup to forward the right ports, then you'll have no problem making it appear on the trackers.
Here is information on setting up dedicated servers, most of which you don't need since it's all done for you: http://www.planetdescent.com/d3help/d3server.shtml -
Just the command lines:
-dedicated filename.cfg (points to the dedi file)
-useport 2093 (if you want to play, you need a different port than 2092)
-tempdir C:\tempdir (if you plan on playing D3 on the same machine)
And here is information about getting them to appear on trackers: http://www.descentbb.net/viewtopic.php?t=2336 - Just scroll down a bit to get the info.
I've noticed your server crashes at level end, so there is a problem there and I think running this way is best.

Ahh thank you, I will try it out in 2 weeks, I need to go on vacation
. Hopefully the server will hold until then
.
Oh yes, and the dedicated server I'm using is running Ubuntu with Wine. It's an actual Dedi server, if it's any help with the crashes. Any other server I run with D3server3 will crash at level end.
So I will test it out when I'm back!
