It's that season again!
It was nearly sheer luck that I was able to attend my school's Prom. The girl that I took (more accuratly, she took me....) had everything paid for, and a week before hand an event happened that I will not share the details of for the sake if me not wanting to give out all of the details of her personal life. But the Monday before she asked me if I wanted to go with her, and that transportation would be taken care of, since my main form of transportation is a bike that needs a new back rim.
Now, in the months preceding this event, I had thought that due to my jobless\carless state any chance I had for going to Prom was very little, mainly do to the fact that the accompanying lady would have to pay for everything, and provide transportation, my chances of going were slim to "pig-flying" luck. Well, I think that I had some planetary alignment occur or something...
On the day of I donned a 3-piece suit that my father happened to have, blue, which in itself was another miracle due to the fact that my date's dress was a blue (dark blue), blue is her favorite color, and that I think i was the only blue-suitted guy there...
She and her mother picked me up on time, during which time my corsage was pinned on (thick suit jacket + needle (long one!) == no sweat!) and went to the High School for the Grand March, and to meet up with another couple, friends of hers who we would be spending our evening with.
250 couples later, it was our turn to walk down that carpet. I wasn't too nervous, simple enough, but we did our thing, other couple we would be staying with behind us (nice fate, keep it up!). And soon enough, we were done, and upon some decision making, my date and I would go back to her house, and pick up her truck and head back into town, since her mother wasn't interested in playing driver for the rest of the evening. Thankfully I learned that her father had been called into work that day, and that he would prolly like very much to try and freak me out, (something about a list of rules for dating his daughter....). But upon asking my date afterwards, he's just do it for kicks more than anything else.
Back into town we goto meet up with the other two, after some pictures, and finding out that one of my 8th grade History teachers happens to live close to him, small world... So we went out for our dinner, a place called the "Mississippi Belle" where the guy from the other couple happens to work, so we got a discount on our meals. Even better.
Afterwards, we stopped at the local Dairy Queen (soft-serve ice cream place) for a desert. And dropped by the house of an advisor of a group that I think the other three are a part of called "Police Explorers" (I'm not 100% sure what exactly it is that they do...) And showed off, kinda...
Anyway, after that we went to the Vermilion Falls where we took some pictures, and watched the falls for a while. Glad that I had worn the vest, since my date was barrowing my jacket due to the cold wind coming off the calls, and wind by itself.
Afterwards we drove to the High School about half an hour early for the "dance" during which we listened to some humor from some stand up guy whose CD we happened to have in the vehicle (the other couple's fella) untill it was time to go in.
Before I even went in for the "dance" which was in the Gym, the music was plenty loud, trouble is that the dance was indeed no convening outside the Gym but inside... So upon entering, the Gym my ears basically told my brain "You're kidding, right...? right...?"
Anyhow, after shoving aside most of my worries about looking like a fool, we eventually made our way out to the "dance floor" where I go introduced to "dancing" which I have boiled into a very simple equation:
bounce up and down while moving your arms, both of which in time with the music. I realized there that for no other reason than how much fun my date was having, I should go ahead and "dance" as best as I could, and not care about how much of a fool I was making myself. So I did, and was very glad that the sleeves of a dress shirt can be rolled up, and the vest could be unbuttoned because despite how rudimentary the "dancing" may seem, it is very much of a workout.
It was quite fun though, espically the few songs where the music completely pauses to allow a response from the crowd, I swear that the shouts were as loud as the music was, that or my ear drums were so overworked that I couldn't tell the difference.
We left a couple hours later, since I had to be home by roughly 12, and the other three wanted to visit a friend's house which visit would put me past my curfew. So we went back to the other fellas house to pick up my date's truck to drive me home, after which they would proceed to the other friend's house to do whatever.
When we got back to my house, we said our "good night"s and I was the lucky receiver of a hug. Now, I also would have been happy with a kiss, however, considering the short time that we had any kind of "those kind" of feelings, and that I was a bit awkward due to some uncharted waters that I had be sailing through I didn't want to push anything.
But overall I'm very glad that I went, and I hope that the two of us can hang out more, and maybe, just maybe, I'll even get a girlfriend. I don't want to start declaring things before I'm sure about them, and I don't want to jump the gun and go further into uncharted waters, so I'm content now. Personally I think she's someone rather special that I should try whatever I can to keep a hold on, and I intend on it.
Best part is that today I asked her, and now we're "offocially" boyfriend\girlfriend. For some reason I'm a bit estatic, could anyone explain...?

I need them first... I've got pictures coming from a few sources, and when I get them I'll post a couple, at least in this section so the whole free world can't see them.

(Yeah, maybe a couple of days late but I have a good reason -- I was rather ill for the last week of May)

My girlfriend will ask her mother to get the prom pictures she has off her camera and stick them on a CD for me. Though the best part is that I get to meet a large slice of her family during her graduation party, joy.
