These beasts are new territory for me. So far I am not impressed. Despite having a cut-free shave (I'm told you usually cut yourself a lot at first), I am less than impressed with the shaving quality. I have to do about four passes to get that stubble off, and even then it's not particulary smooth. I was told this particular kind of razor is one of the best on the planet (It's a Merkur) and is guaranteed to shave closer than your average Mach blades, with less irritation after some practice. So far, despite not using it that often, I have seen no results. This morning it had been 48 hours since my last shave, so a slightly stronger stubble than the norm. Does it shave? No. I had to lather up twice, and even then, no go. Still lots of stubble about~! So, because I was so pissed, I just lathered up one more time and used my Mach 3 to finish off. Now my face is like the surface of the sun itself. Good thing I have relief cream! Instead of heading to my face tomorrow morning, this razor is heading to eBay.
I bought this in an attempt to get that mythical perfect shave. I don't think I can endure a single week of this, let alone the several months it PROBABLY takes before getting the hang of it. If anyone has used this kind of shaving system (with cream or whatever), any tips? If not, I think I'll stick with my acceptable Mach 3 and a good tube of quality cream.

Heh, I think I saw a MadTV or SNL skit a while back that was the "Mach15" And it had that graphic of the blades sliceing the hair...then the skin, nice spoof.

I am thinking about trying the Wilkinson four blade one. Either that or getting new foils for my Philishave Coolskin.
