Hey Flippy what have you been up to (apart from school work)? I sent you a PM last night :D
Oooops, missed that :(

I'm not too bad, mostly sitting in front of the computer trying to be inspired, and getting ready for my Holiday in Windermere on the 4th August, I think, to be honest, I need the holiday before I stand any real chance of feeling inspired to learn more programming ;)

It's always fun to take a vacation and get away from the routine. I am usually more inspired during a proper vacation than any other times I think. Sadly, I have taken more sick days than vacation days since college. I have not had a proper vacation for a long while, maybe that's why I am feeling quite tired :)

Anyway, have fun. I will be in touch just so we can have tea (Sharon's invited) later in the year :D

I love a bit of Vodka here and then.... but a bit of Rum is only good if it is the right type.

There are many types of rum of course, including pussy rum, lightweight rum, party rum, teenager rum, supermarket rum, average rum, drunkard rum, hobo rum, heavy rum, navy rum, red rum, ARRRGH rum, deadman rum, all the in-betweeners.... I could list them all, but you might expire before the end of the list.

But the same is true for Vodka I suppose...

Tarry's right though, about the vodka drinking attitude.
That's what a vodka martini is, to all intents and purposes. A proper bartender will generally mix between 5:1 and 7:1 vodka:dry vermouth - it's a glass of cold vodka with impurities. I have no idea why the martini is so popular - there're way better vodka drinks out there, especially if you're female and can go to the bar and order stuff like a Cosmopolitan without getting weird looks from the bartender :) For the record, if you liked grey goose don't assume your bog standard bottle of smirnoff red will taste as good if you want to make a martini at home. TGrey goose is around 70 - 80 AUD here, you'll generally want to spend at least 50 AUD (or the equivalent) on a bottle to get something halfway decent. Smirnoff and the like are fine for drinks with vodka in them (like a Moscow Mule or a Screwdriver) but for vodka based drinks like a martini, go for the good stuff. It's not always about money (I drink 42 below vodka, for example, which you can get for between 30 and 40 AUD and is bloody brilliant, but I suspect that would be hard to come by in the US as it's a Kiwi brand.

Incidentally Hunter, I sympathise. I was awake til 1:30 in the afternoon after wednesday night because when I closed my eyes the room started to spin and I immediately wanted to vomit. Worth it though - we had a bunch of people around for after-pub drinks and got a number off a very swedish exchange student. I love uni. :D

Incidentally, rum is fantastic too, but once again you've got to get the right stuff. Finding a halfway decent white rum is more a matter of trial and error than it is spending the right amount though. At the moment I'm buying Havana Club cuban rum, mostly through lack of choice - most booze outlets here in WA seem only to stock Bacardi if you're after white rum, with this stuyff coming a distant second - lovely stuff though. You can smell the difference in quality between it and Bacardi as soon as you open the bottle. As a reference, we were dirnking mojitos wednesday night - If you get a mojito in a bar (in Australia at least) there's a 95% chance it'll be bacardi based. Now, I'm far from the best cocktail pourer in the world, but I got two separate people telling me that mine was the best mojito they'd ever had, and I can only attribute that to the superior rum. So yeah, if you see some and like rum, grab it.
