Changing SG - What do you want?

I'd like to know what you, the member, would like to see at Sectorgame's website. As it stands right now, we don't have a website. What we have, is a large, but outdated website for Freespace 2. I'd like to update it with a "database" that can be expanded to include everything people want to upload, I.E a Rapidshare / Megaupload but for Freespace only. I wouldn't ofcourse allow freerange, there would be moderation. But doing that would take time, or cost money if I were to purchase software for it. And then theres the possibility it wont get used anyway, so it's a waste of time.

We also have some hosted websites (about ten) and a small Descent 3 page, all of which aren't a big factor at SG but do keep the bandwidth busy. I want to focus on the homepage - What do you want to see? As a gaming website, well, I guess gaming stuff - But that's not a given, we can just have all kinds of ramblings. Obviously we don't have the space to store loads of demos and trailers for games, so a high content site is really out of the question. If I'm gonna work on anything, be it a Freespace 2 Sector replacement or a homepage for Sectorgame, it has to be worthwhile - at least a little..

What about descent3? I'd like to see a database for Descent 1, 2, & 3 that members can upload things to, and make posts in the database, like a wiki. And I'd like the uploads on the database in a way that vortex can autodownload.

I would consider it, but the Freespace community has a much more active modding scene. I don't think a Descent one would do any good, because we've got plenty of sources already.

Give people space to set up databases for their own games/interests.
Don't we already provide that? :P
Oh come on, hunter. D3 seems plenty active.
Just because a whole load of people post at the DBB and PD doesn't make the game all that active - new levels don't even come out often anymore, let alone mods. Alas, the community has sites like Planet Descent and the DBB which provide all needs. Not to mention L4Y and all the German websites.

Provided you have the correct auto-download links in the mission file, Vortex should be able to download a level from anywhere.

And Matthew, if you're in need of hosting space, just send the levels to me (top_gun AT planetdescent DOT com), and I'll get them up on PD.

Well, I don't want to send you a test version of a level, top gun. But, anyway, I've got that all sorted out. Turns out when I put the file on the webserver wormaus set up, I had it in the wrong folder...
