Goodbye, Andy

1
This morning, at what time I don't know, my third uncle (youngest) died after a 2 year battle with liver cancer. It wasn't really expected this soon, as most of us thought he had a good few months to live yet - To be honest, I think he could have, but I don't want to go into those details right now. He was really the only uncle I got to know in my family, and he was like a father figure to me even though I only used to see him a few times a month. We used to play when I was a kid, he used to take me up London when I was a bit older, and got a chance to visit places I wouldn't normally have because there wasn't really anyone else who would do so. Andy would have been 52 next Monday, and it's my birthday tomorrow. Sigh.

Andy had a troubled past, dabbling with heroine for many years until eventually he had to go into rehab. He was clean for the past 10 years, and he lived a fast life over those 10 years, getting to visit many countries over the globe. Sadly, he was a stubborn person, and wouldn't go for checkups at the hospital when told to - And so the cancer was caught too late. I last saw him on Friday, and at that stage he was very weak, and had been put onto Morphine. He could barely lift his hands, and it was very heartbreaking...

Well, that's all for now. See you Andy.

I'm very sorry for your lost, Hunty *hug*

I know it's probably not the best time to say the word happy, but it was your birthday yesterday, so happy belated birthday and may you have many more happy returns *big hug*

It seems wrong to say 'Happy Birthday' in these circumstances, but maybe having your friends and family around you is at least helping.

Was a wonderful funeral service, over 100 people attended. Andy was a very popular person. The music was very well done, with eastern and oriental influences, reminded me of Battlstar Galactica's quieter music. There was also a singer who sang Danny Boy very well. After all exiting the crematorium we were all given balloons that we let go all at once. I was nearly choking up the whole time, but saved face.
