it doesn't support ogg, its got to be in either uncompressed PCM wav format or ADCPM (whatever) format. I had no main-hall music until i compressed my music into that format, then it worked.

ARGH.
It is in ADPCM format, it was to start with!
Still won't play. I've mucked about with various different versions of ADPCM and none of them work.
Excuse me while I go look for a Volition programmer to strangle.

Possibly, but I wouldn't know how to alter that. :/ I'll have to poke around in Goldwave a bit to figure it out.

It does seem to work, but no joy on getting the sound to actually play.
However having a brilliant idea, I've decided to see what format the .wavs in the VPs are in and try to match it.
EDIT: Did that. Still no sound. A1-Supah. Here's what the debugger says: "No music file exists to play music at the main menu!"
Riiiight.
Filename in the mainhall.tbl is correct. The track is in the correct folder. I've tried the filename both with and without the extension. I have no idea what the hell is going on anymore. I'll try screwing with the filename a bit but at this point I'm seriously considering Mantis. (Maybe it doesn't like numbers? It wants it capitalized? Christ, I don't know!)

I've been having the same problems with a similar project, except that my mainhall music plays back just fine. Everything is in OGG btw, the difference is, my in-mission music refuses to play. It's strange because I believe the mainhall doesn't require any sort of timing like the in-mission music does, so you shouldn't have to worry about that. If you want to, transcode the WAV file into an OGG file and see if it works there. I know, compressing an already compressed file would be silly, but just to test, it'd tell you if it'd pick it up or not.
Oh wait a sec... Is the filename correct in the music.tbl? If you've only modified mainhall.tbl.. and not music.tbl.. wouldn't that cause a problem?

It just sprayed me with MACE why would it do that?!

Yep. You've got it in one. Ironically BtRL ran into this problem in reverse a few days ago.
Mainhall.tbl does not point at the music file. It points at the entry in music.tbl with the right name. We were geting no music because someone had updated music.tbl but not mainhall.tbl
