Status update! I've been working on the ship icons and such. I've gotten one done so far. God thats hard to do.

- Ship Icons (fighters done, 0 of 4 bombers)
- Weapon Icons (using placeholder)
- Ship Animations (fighters done, 0 of 4 bombers)
- Weapon Animations (using placeholder)
- Shivan Speech (done unless i feel like making more)
- Shivan talking headz (done)
- Shivan Main Hall (done)
- Special Tech Entries (done)
- Change Traitor message (done)

Once i manage to do all this i will wrap it up into a VP file called data_shiv.vp that you should be able to just plop into FS2 retail's root directory and your set to go make shivan missions! :) Also i'll make a version for FSO if karajorma would explain how i should go about it.

Ok i've been writing up tech entries. I have 3, but you guys only get to see one because the other two have major plot spoilers

"Terrans and Vasudans have long proposed that the shivans are a hive mind species. While not correct, they are not entirely wrong.

The shivans evolved from insectoid organisms long ago, and once possessed a hive mind, much like ants. The evolution of conciousness, however, eradicated most of the hive mind functions in the shivan brain, thrown away for more desirable traits. Not all of their hive mind was lost though, remnants of this ancient tool reside in the more primitive areas of the shivan brain. As a result, they have a tendancy to engage in hive-like movement. It also enables, with the help of their quantum fluctuatory language, limited group thought between short distances, such as a wing of fighters. Untrained, This group thought is very sporadic, and most shivan pilots must train themselves to be able to control and use the ability to their advantage.

The influences of the shivan's past evolutionary history do not end there, as the shivans still practice a form of government similar to an ant hive's queen. An interesting aspect of their evolution, however, molded their government into something more akin to a constitutional monarchy, with an all-powerful queen who consulted and was given advice by a parliament of shivans. This government is still referred to as "The Hive", out of purely traditional reasons.

The hive manages all aspects of the shivan empire, and do not have any concept similar to states, countries, or the like. To the shivans, it is one species, under one government, under The Queen, and why it would be anything else is a stupid question. Of course, managing an entire empire is no easy business, so The Hive contains many sections devoted to different areas. Most go on without the Queen knowing, or caring, about them. The military branch manages all military aspects, and is admittedly the largest section of The Hive."

Ok? Bad? Cool? Stupid? Nice? Burn it?

EDIT: Ok, its badly in need of some editing here and there, so try to ignore that :p

GAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Alright, would anyone know why the shivan bombers are apprently causing FS2 to crash? One reason might be that two of them have turrets, but i undid those as playerships and it still crashes. What gives?

So? The Ursa and Medusa both have turrets too.
And i believe the other bomber has 4 primaries too, so i may be stuck with just getting the nahema bomber to work. I'm almost positive that the Nahema should work though.
I think from what I remember of Hidden Terror and the various previous attempts to make a shivan campaign that it was only those two I already named which had problems.

I have to shoot ngtm1r, since it's his fault! Shooting you would help with damage control, though. Those files can't be distributed.

EDIT: Thanks to Hunter for removing the link. :) BlackHole and ngtm1r, feel free to contact me via PM or ICQ if you want to discuss this.
