I've struck up, again, (for the 3rd time, don't ask), on my Shivan Campaign. I've got everything all sorted out, all 26 missions planned, and am working on the first one. It'll be a great campaign, where you are a shivan stuck in the middle of a several interesting events.

My worry is that it will be rejected by the FS community because they don't want me making so many assumptions about Shivans. I try not to, the assumptions that i do make are the following:

- The shivans originally were a hive mind. As they evolved into concious beings they developed individuality. However they still refer to their government as "The Hive"

- They are not xenocidal crazies, they have other reasons for killing us...

- They aren't the only thing we have to worry about (using the famous quote from a [V] member: "The shivans are a symptom of a larger problem)

Theres a *few* other things but i can't really mention them because i let teh campaign explain it. Do you think this would be acceptable or should i just ditch the idea?

The campaign will be for retail FS, and *may* utilize new music or animations. If it does it will all be packed into a single .vp for easy installation and uninstallation.

If i do put new music in there it will of course be composed by me

Yes'm, have been for a long time. I knew how to make missions i just never got around to it. I love FS2

Oh. I've done a lot of FREDing, Modding (Models, ANIs, Texturing and Sounds) for FS - But that was way back before FSOPEN.

I've got no problem with you making assumptions about Shiavn motivation. You can't do a Shivan campaign without doing that.

At least you're backing them up with missions unlike the Shivan Manifesto

The first mission has been completed. Its a lightning fast mission (lasting the whole of one minute) but it gives you enough information to leave you wanting to know where to go next...

The first one was a bit "hmm, don't know much about what's...OMGWTF ORIONS!" *Alpha 1 was killed by a beam from Halbardier*

If you build it into a full campaign, I'd recommend you go all the way with altering the tech room and other such so the player has a bit more depth of background. (And I wonder if anyone's made a Shivan mainhall...? Maybe grab whoever in Hidden Terror is left by the throat and shake them until they give it up.)
