Doesn't have to be many people.

I'm fine with travelling down to London from Lancashire. What date would be best do you think?

A saturday night?

I would suggest some time either just before Christmas (17th-22nd) or just after the holiday season ends (1st-8th). Some obvious flaws, but meh. What are everyone elses preferrred times?

I'll take a bus.

Seriously, I'm fron Eindhoven, but if I know about 6 months in advance, I can get to London and back cheaper than from London to York and back. 30 euros for the bus ticket.

So if someone in London either has a bed spare, or a place to pitch a tent assuming a summer timing, I'd be coming along if at all possible.

Problem is, I won't be in England again untill next March, and then I've already planned my weeks vacation to the brim. Áfter that, I won't be able to actually leave school for quite some time, at least not till sometime after May.

So next summer, I'd be sure to be there, earlier then that, something special would have to happen. (As in someone paying a 100 euros for my airplane ticket so I can do it in a (3 day?) weekend.)

If someone called 'Next thursday' and the meeting place was Oxford, I might be able to get some time off from the schedule and drop by, though. :p

As for prices, bus tickets to London using National Express range from 10 to 40 pounds or so, depending on how far in advance and distance. London York, next year's March, going on a monday and returning on a friday, is 30 pounds or so, round trip.

EDIT: And finding a bed in a youth hostel for under 20 quid is near impossible, and a hotel would be anywhere from 25 to 50, depending on season, people to share a room with, and quality/location.

London is semi-good for me, off course, due to tickets being cheap, but I could travel to any place with a proper bus service.

There's this place in London, beds start at £16 a night, iirc.
I was going to stay there when I went down, but instead watched Bill Bailey all night at a mate's house. ¬_¬

As for dates, the Leeds thing everyone's ignoring on PW is set for the 6th and 7th of Jan, and after that it's back to school/college/uni for everyone, so that'd be no good for me. Before that it's Christmas and New Year, so the trains will be packed and/or on strange timetables. Before that it's too short notice, and I've got a ton of assignments for Uni, so that'd be no good for me either.

I'm an awkward b#stard, it's true.

Bring-your-own-PC would limit me to Quake, meaning my laptop.

I'm not dragging a very expensive piece of very big equipment in the bus with me. Nevermind the TFT monitor, just the case alone is enough to give me a hernia and a heart atack in one fell swoop.
