thats because dessies suck. I've killed 0.4 npc rats in a kestrel. Only because standard missiles outrange an npc blasterax setup

No, they dont have to stay in high sec, but they can be smart about travelling in low sec.
Use instajump bookmarks, use WCS, etc.

I've heard of a Badger II taking out a Megathron simply because it had a light tank and a scram.
The Mega attacked it at a gate. Badger turns the scram on it and starts tanking just long enough for the sentries to kill the BS.

Destroyers, I think, are actually better once you have high combat skills, they look like a natural progression from a Frigate, but I think they are far more useful to experienced players than noobs.
