I just got my hands on free space 2 and am looking for mods and people to play with online.
Any suggestions on good mods to download would be great.
Any wants to blast me all over space online would be great also.

Uhm, the main modding community is over at http://www.3dap.com/hlp/ but they may not be up right now...
We don't have a lot locally. Some good mods to try are the Babylon Project, Inferno, and anything by Blaise Russel (Homesick, Shrouding the Light, etc.).
Also, grab the FreeSpace 2 Source Code Project for vastly improved graphics and to make certain mods (Babylon Project, Shrouding the Light) actually work.
