That's not a greebled cube. That's actually a badly mauled six-sided cylinder (read: hexagon). If there's any greebling on that thing, it was done by hand.

This is my first real model, built from scratch. This is about as public as I'm planning on going with this thing for the time being.

I'm not even going to comment in that thread. Anything I say would be mean. So I'm just going to keep my mouth shut.

My thoughts exactly... I spent six minutes reading that thread. You all know, that I am not very good at modeling. I KNOW, that i can output something of higher quality than that thing, in those six minutes.

Anyone see what pecan made? A couple of weeks ago he posted a simple model, and now he has gone up to that... I bet he cheated and got that model from somewhere else. I can't even model that good yet. :(

That's not a good model... I'm willing to bet it's nothing but intersecting objects.

Anyway, I feel like e-slapping peckerhead. He's an arrogant little prick.

Model isn't good, but I was talking about the turrets and guns. I know he could not make e'm.

They're not complex; simply a blob and a couple of cylinders added. Piece of piss.

What is this obsession with sticky-outy turrets lately anyway? It's getting to resemble a massive game of Battleships!

A well made static turret may not look as impressive, but is often more sensible, and, quite frankly, a sod sight easier to set-up :)

Me like big sticky outy turrets. Me like big boom-boom. Me got concussion and talk oddly.

buh? I prefer disc turrets. They're so much easier to get working (and to model, since I can't make a good looking turret to save my life)

116
Gah, I hate all that twiddling about with the axis in multi-part turrets, and then, nine times out of ten, theres something wrong and it just sits there....laughing at you... as it's blown to pieces, or even more embarassing, you realise you put the damn thing on the wrong way round and the barrels are happily intersecting the base :(

Back when I converted with Truespace, I never had a problem like that, but now that I don't have TS anymore, and use the MAX-> POF converter, I rarely get things to convert correctly.
I guess I masterred the hierarchy setup in TS some time ago.

118
Thing is, I model in Lightwave, then I have to convert that to a .obj then UV and texture the .obj, then convert it to cob to load into Truespace for putting all the lights etc in place.

In some ways it's a real pain, but it offers me a lot of flexibility in thoer ways :)

I'm willing to be Picenpieks "model" was made with that DOGA thing that's floating around - it certainly looks of that style.
