As I see it, there are "good" people and less "good" people in every country. And thats about it.

What matters in the long run are the actions taken by each individual; a government can tell you what to think, but it can't make you. What makes you think is what you experience, and what you experience heavily depends on the thinking/actions of the "guy next to you".

It was a lot of hot air from day 2 to be honest, it was really just a quick coalition to deal with the British, French and Israelis in Egypt. But it was pretty much worn out after that, they'd rather deliver paper cuts to offending countries these days.

What I find disheartening is the number of politicians who are willing to bow to the UN like it is a government in waiting.

BTW, I was watching CSPAN this morning and they had a british debate on whether Pres. Bush should be re-elected with a Mr. Trimble who enunciated very clearly the situation in the world without any spin toward the left or right. I found it interesting.

not to mention NATO/Warsaw Pact disputes. And most of those were settled outside the UN anyway (SALT, IRBM, START come to mind)

before i forget, i saw a bush rally on c-span whilst flipping through channels and the music they had going was "The Final Countdown" by Europe (of all bands with a geographic name)

I suppose if there were one thing that I could state about American Democracy that worries me, it would be the amount of money a candidate needs to be a challenge these days.

How can anyone with that kind of money to spend on advertising themselves, or being given money by corporations expecting a return on their investment, claim to know what the 'average American' wants?

That was an argument I had with someone ages ago... You need a tremendous amount of capital to run for president, and when you have that much, you are out of touch with the rest of society... It's not fair, I tells ya.

What we need is some kind of mandatory airtime allotance for all candidates, so that the lesser wealthy of the bunch can get equal airtime...

$150m is the minimum required for a Presidental challenge now, isn't it?
