Basically he was a very cool DJ on Radio 1 over here in the UK. He had a habit of bringing unknown bands to the public's attention.

He basically championed unknown bands, and refused to play the same 'run of the mill' music other DJ's played at the time.
He had a passion for the different, and brought that to his show. I worry for the future of British music without him to be honest, the less DJ's we have of his ilk, the more the Industry is going to be Pop Idol over and over
