Kerry is earning my respect.....

Well, I know he has his 'other' side, most politicians do, but he certainly has the 'Clinton tongue'.

I would have been impressed even more if he had said 'The War on Terror can be won, but not by shooting people'.

Admittedly, an Orangutang could probably out-debate Bush, but nonetheless, I get the feeling Kerry is a little more in touch with reality in the outside world. And he has even freely admitted the restrictions he would face if elected, which is, I must admit, an amazingly rare thing to hear.

How is that wrong?

"I didn't vote today" is a proper sentence.

Interesting thing though, how exactly would Kerry "win" the War on Terror? Probably by cowtowing to the UN.

Also, it is not a war on terrorism, that truly cannot be won. There will always be people who believe they have no other way to influence political change. The war is on Organized Terrorism that uses terrorist activities to acheive their agenda of the destruction of Western Civilization(Europe and the Americas, which is based on certain ideals that date back to the Greeks(specifially the Athenians) and the Roman Empire) and it's subsequent replacement with their Theocratic barbarism that would see women not allowed out of their homes and basically undo all the good that WC has acheived in the past 10 some odd centuries.

What, you mean by actually respecting the opinions of the other 5 billion people who make up this world?

And people're persuaded to go along with it, Liberator, becuase of a lot of the evil Western Culture has perpetrated over the years... evil that most of us had nothing to do with, even today.

I agree with your point, though.

Aldo, accurate, realistic, and unlikely to happen with the current President... pissing off even more people and creating a bigger mess than before.

Can you give a reason why you hope Kerry wins? Besides "He's not Bush" or some variation of that, of course. What about him or his record in the US Senate compells you to vote for him?

See abortion voting (cruicially 'Cannot change Roe v. Wade because of my own faith')

also gay rights ('Voted YES on adding sexual orientation to definition of hate crimes', 'Voted NO on prohibiting same-sex marriage')

crime ('States should not engage in killing-too many mistakes.' - know fact, actually, IIRC a college study into debatable Death Sentences found a terrifying amounts of errors, unfortunately I don't recall a link / institution for that one)

to a degree on energy & oil ('The Kyoto Treaty was flawed but could be fixed', 'Voted NO on drilling ANWR on national security grounds' - NB: ANWR = Alaskan reserves?)

to a degree on foreign policy ('America should lead by extending a hand, not a fist', 'Take notice of political oppression in Russia', 'Excluding other nations in rebuilding Iraq is dumb')

too a degree on gun control ('Supports 2nd Amendment, but wants to ban assault weapons') - I'm totally anti-gun after the Dunblane Massacre

Some stuff is too US-specific for me to judge, but I haven't seen anything that would make me vote against him vs Bush. Of course, I view Bush as one of the worlds most dangerous-stroke-incompetent leaders.

Yeah, I know. But in this case it's better the devil you don't, IMO. At least there'd be consequences if he misbehaves.... Bush would have carte blanche, seeing as re-election won't be a worry in a second term.
