You need to do something to get their attention and make sure the dunderheads realize that if they don't do something as they are supposed to do it and cut corners instead, that people are going to get hurt and then show them you're wounds.

I started pointing out (to the first half of the class, who is gone now) when they got injured, that i'd been taking blows for all of them... It started working, but maybe that because twards the end of their stay, they were doing more painting than woodwork...
