It's not in Inferno right now, Grimloq. Unless they released Release 2 over night, or something.

It'll be in Release 2.

oh, it is? i thought it was an inferno ship... oh well. shows how much i know :)

BTW, can anyone explain 'release 1, release 2', etc? is all it is just fixing bugs that they didnt catch in beta testing of the campaign? or is it like a sequal... :?

so, if anyone oculd actually tell me what they are about... no, nvm, ill make it an orde:

someone, TELL me what the deal is with release 1's, release 2's, etc.

there

I'll use an example for FS1, since i remmeber mission names better:

Inferno is divided into chapters, like FS1 and 2 were. FS1, goes as follows:

ACT 1:
sm1-01a
sm1-02a
sm1-03a
sm1-04a
sm1-05a
sm1-06a
sm1-07a
sm1-08a
sm1-09a
sm1-10a <----- Mission where you capture the Taranis

ACT 2:
sm2-01a
sm2-02a
sm2-03a
sm2-04a
sm2-05a
sm2-06a
sm2-07a
sm2-08a
sm2-09a
sm2-10a <----- Mission where the Galatea is destroyed

ACT 3:
sm3-01a
sm3-02a
sm3-03a
sm3-04a
sm3-05a
sm3-06a
sm3-07a
sm3-08a
sm3-09a <----- Mission in which you destroy the lucifer

If this had been a user made campaign, it would likely be released like Inferno, where they send you act 1, while they stul work on the others. Then they release act 2, usually with some bugfixes for act 1, and soon and soforth... Inferno has 4 chapters IIRC...

[edit] oh, and add bugfixes. missed that bit. nvm, releases are good ideas. :)
They don't expect it to be finished any time in the next year even... You can take it a little peice at a time, or once at the end. Its FAR more efficient this way...

Basically they consider it better to release one chapter now and have people play the game (and give feedback on what works and what doesn't) than release the whole thing 3 years from now.

I'm doing something similar with my own TMA because writing as many missions as I'd need just for the first chapter singlehanded is going to be tricky enough. :)

ok, (for those of you who care) now that ive played a couple of campaigns, heres my feedback so far:

BWO demo: these are even better than many of the FS2 missions, VERY professional-looking :) i only saw one spelling error, too :)

Inferno: it has that look of a campaign that was just set up so that it could get the most ships in with the least effort. like, that Durja is just an upside-down manticore, basicly. and cleverly combining a basalisk and an aeshma doesn impress me. however, i havnt completed the campaign yet. also, a lot of the missions look like direct rip-offs of FS2 ones. all in all. though, inferno is a fairly decent campaign.

COW- ok, the missions are sloppily put together, but if they were to just be 1.1ed, like fixing spelling errors, making the missions slightly more playable, and fixing some of hte bad sexps, it would probably be a top-notch campaign, IMO.

thats all i got for now :)

(old post, granted, but it's relevant to me now kind of)

To be honest, I was in a hurry to get it out the door. It's the only thing I've ever finished.

I had a massive error list at one point, but accidentally deleted it and never managed to get anything as comprehensive rewritten myself.... plus the testers, IIRC, never actually sent anything back that was of use.

Problem was that, in many cases, we were trying to make sure every mission was different (i.e. no mission template was repeated), which was a pain in the arse.

The chance of a 1.1, though, is minimal.... I'd much rather focus on doing something new* than retread old ground. CoW was a learning experience as much as anything else.
