Not odd at all - the root cause of both is the same - Interplay selling off it's Intellectual properties to make money. Fallout to Bethedesawhoosawhatsit, FS3 (possibly) to DS.

Support is increasing for FS rather fast actually. Even the Gone Gold forums, another lurk-zone of Dereks is split on the idea. And Derek being a pompous git and demanding Mods ban people who mention his poor record, and yet behaving in a bannable manner himself isn't helping. He's even managing to piss off some of the regulars with his throwing a tantrum about us contacting [V]. I really don't think he was expecting that.
