We deserved it to be honest. Portugal might not have deserved a win but England made the same three basic mistakes that I have complained about time and time again.

1. The long ball forwards (and hope Owen can get to it). Instead of passing the ball upfield
2. Giving away possesion for no good reason. (Usually due to 1)
3. Defending a 1-0 lead

I've been complaining for the last 7-8 years that England shouldn't do that but as soon as I saw the Owen goal go in I knew we were doomed because it meant that England would do all of the above.

People will blame the disallowed goal (A complete travesty) or the fact that Rooney was injured but the fact is that we lost because England only seem to care about playing well when we are losing

BTW you'd better change that title. There are probably some Scots who are quite happy about the matter.

I agree. But the game should never gotten that far. Considering how hard it was for Portugal to get one past us and considering that when we needed one we got it in less than 5 minutes (through passing and playing well rather than the long ball forwards) We should have been able to put the match to bed 3-0 without any problem.

Have pity on the poor Americans, for we mean, uneducated heathens refer to your great and Godly sport as 'soccer'.

And I've seen our football teams pull (deleted by user) just like that, so my sympathy is with jolly old Enland in this one.

Only two working pictures neither of which show anyone kicking the ball. How is this a game called football?

What is it with the Americans and Austrialians can they not even understand the concept? :D

I understand the concept just fine. Call it cultural differences.
