Is anyone else having problems logging on to HLP? My browser says it can't find the dynamic4.gamespy.com server.

I get it on occasion, but not for more than a few minutes or so, probably GS employing their 'If it aint broke, break it' theory again

When it's down, use one of those proxy's, and post a tracert to dynamic4.gamespy.com here, before setting the proxy.

I'll bet you you're getting dropped on the last hop before Gamespy.

No, it's my parents excuse for an ISP, PeoplePC. Their local servers can't even connect at 50000 bps most of the time and they drop out alot.

My father is on the verge of getting somthing else. I'm trying to convince him to get broadband so he can get VoIP through Vonage($30 a month for unlimited calls and unlimited LD)

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with GameSpy and why they are having these problems?

Probably maintenance or clean-up. They don't charge for hosting, so in their eyes it obviously gives them permission to pull the plug without warning if they need to do something, and then put it back up without an explanation later. I just hope they have it fixed by Friday afternoon, or they will no doubt leave it disabled for the weekend
