My disk is smoking

As in, my hard disk. It blew smoke at me, twice! Well that and my entire computer is out of action (fried two power supplies, the main board, and somehow the GPU and HDD are affected...) - here's hoping everything will be covered by warranty. :|

And the weird thing is the smoking hard drive still seems to work fine.

Yeah. but it has a vastly increased likelihood of lung cancer.

It fried two separate power supplies? What? I'd check the wall circuit. I've never heard of an internal component causing PSU damage, especially a lowly hard drive. A GPU maybe, those things take a lot of power, but hard drives only have +3V or +5V usually.

Meh, it seems the hard disk is still fine. The smoke-like-stuff was probably from the cables themselves. The power supplies weren't both fried, but they did get hit with a jolt of electricity somehow. I've had everything checked over, and it has been determined that the motherboard was at fault. As a result, my GPU, CPU, PCI cards and PSU were all hit. Luckily almost everything is covered under warranty, except for the CPU (an i5 core) which is totally fried. :(

The result:

* Fixed PSU, no cost..
* Fixed motherboard, no cost..
* Bought a new CPU, 270 USD
* Sound card fried (didn't replace it)
* GPU repaired, no cost..
* Service charges: 170 USD
* Having my computer back: Priceless!
