I think that's actually a fly pulling some bee mimicry, which is even cooler.

It probably is, the head looks much more fly-like than bee-like. And it's not as hairy as most bees.

I believe it is most likely a male Marmalade Hoverfly

The Bee looks rather angry, whereas flies just looked spaced out.

Nice, so what camera is that anyway? I've been meaning to take a lot of new pictures now that Autumn is almost upon us, but my current camera is a little lacking...

It is a Nikkon D3000; it's a good beginners SLR. It depends on how professional you are, and also how big a camera you want to carry. I like it, but there are times a lighter compact camera would come in handy for quick shots and trips.

Hm yeah, tbh I would prefer a pocket camera as the one I have right now is also quite bulky. While that is good for some shots, it's not very 'party friendly'.
