Seriously, I had a look around and there's absolutely no source beyond that absurd hate-rag for this. Labour might be cunts, et al, but somehow I doubt a scheme to put CCTV cameras in private homes would attract just a wee bit of attention from the likes of the Guardian or (locally here) Herald. More like the writer at Wired doesn't actually understand how disreputable a source they're quoting (it's like the Daily Express, except they spend even less time a week working).

El Reg would be all over this if it were true.

Sounds like someone at the Express just had the concept of Social Services explained to them, heard the word socialist and ran off screaming to the typewriter.
