Wow look at me starting all these threads!
Anyway, I fancy some retro gameage. Late 90s-to2003 era stuff that works on Xp please. Cool stuff I've probably forgotten.
For example:
D3 - started recently. Has met with approval.
Shogo - display problems, community appears mostly dead
X-Wing vs T/Fighter - (Haven't tried yet)
Dune - (Ditto)
Hostile Watres - Played to death
What ya got ?
on a side note Zelda-Twilight Princess for GC still commands a premium. Which is bad if you fancy buying.

Cave Story - 2004 (close enough)

Descent 1
Descent 2
Best played in my opinion with D1\2x-Rebirth. There is D2X-XL, but also in my opinion it has so many (optional) "features" that it ceases to be D1\2 anymore.

How's X2/3 ? I think it was that which beat FS2 to PCGamer's Top5 Space Shooters (back in the day). I only got FS2 as I couldn't find X

Monkey Island (any of them) and Giants:Citizen Kabuto spring to mind immediately.

X2/3 aren't really what I would consider Space Combat games in the same ilk as Freespace. Think more along the lines of 'Elite', it's mostly about trading and making money, admittedly, the only thing you can actually really use the money for is to buy bigger guns, but the combat in X left me pretty cold.

Yeah I thought of Monkey Island (and Grim Fandango) but I dunno if I'd like a point 'n' click...

I love classic Tetris, it's simple but quite challenging at the same time

Retro? I'll give you retro. DOSBox retro.
Red Storm Rising (yes, there's a game, neat little early attack sub simulator)
Master of Orion 1 (Always remember the first.)
Star Control 2 (locate the Ur-Quan Masters source port if possible; the connected wiki can be a huge help too if you get stuck)
