On a personal level (ie not pro-Conservative), how cool would it be if GB called a snap election and got booted outta power ? Dude has wanted to be PM for years, gets in because the last guy gave-up but then gets his ass kicked. He would have to defect and try again or something.
I think that would be funny.

While the humour of it isn't beyond me, I wouldn't want to experience the economic and socio-political turmoil that would result from such an event.

I can't believe he's waited the 10+ years to become PM and he's going to risk it all in an election when he doesn't need to. Against an adversary sponsored by none other than
Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Ant humour involved in him being voted out would be dwarfed by abject despair at David Cameron becoming Prime Minister.

I have to admit, I can seem a bit conservativ at sometimes. I can have very conservative views. I just think that the party are complete dolts and do not want David Cameron to swan into power and legalise Cannabis and do other silly David Cameronish things.

It's not the 'lesser' social issues that are the problem though, that's what really pisses me off, legalising cannabis wouldn't increase or decrease usage, the same people would still be using it. Making Hate Speech illegal won't stop people thinking Hate Thoughts etc.
The fact of the matter is that if we could get a government that would get off its arse about things like Housing, Employment and Education, a lot of those problems that the government seems to spend all it's time chasing it's own tail over wouldn't be a problem in the first place.

The main point about legalising cannabis or any drug is to stop it being a source of money for criminals. Once you can get the drugs cheaper and more safely from a legitimate source then no one is going to be interested in going to them any more.
Whether this would cause a decrease in gang violence once there was no money to be made from it or if they would branch out into some new line is another matter. If iit did work though I would hardly call it a minor matter.

Well, I think Gang violence is based on something far more primordial than racketeering of any description, in many ways, that's just an excuse to do it. I agree that Gangs will probably attempt to branch out into something else, but at the end of the day, it's all about Power, and that is what needs to be taken away from these gangs at a local level.
A lot of it is about 'Them' and 'Us', and levelling up the playing field there would make it a lot harder to point fingers.
