The amount of retardation coming from people there makes takashibosch look like a model member.

I think they only appeared because Warpstorm went down for a change of servers, with luck they'll get bored now that it's back up.

You know, An0n aside, I'm beginning to wonder when the Freespace 2 scene turned into a Kindergarten?

I think it's a mixture of the fact that we've made it easier to get into the game (more people playing means a larger percentage of stupid newbies turning up) and slack moderation.
By that I don't mean that the mods are choosing to be lazy so much as that they let slide a lot of stuff that would be cracked down on if it happened on Game-Warden for instance. (for all the complaits about BSG fanboys GW was getting a year ago the forum doesn't have half the problem that HLP has now that Takashi is in the dickheads usergroup).

Bah ship the noobs here, we'll beat them into shape! Hmm, but that may spoil our "small family" feeling, crud...

I think it's just a general decrease in the quality of users. Each year more and more long-termers leave and are replaced with twats.

Not to mention those who keep claiming the 'Forum is Dying' simply because they don't allow the massive flame-fests there used to be over religion and politics any more, and even then that's a matter of opinion, there are still some very heated debates go on, the only difference is, we don't allow people to attack each other, only the opinions.

The thing I hate is how threads that would have been funny a few years ago just go to s###. That bumper sticker thread is a prime example - I knopw it would have been funny a few years back. Hell, I contributed, and mine were funny. But most of the ones on there were just variations on "ohmigod I am going to beamz j00!". Please tell me we were cleverer than that.

I think in part it's to do with average age, and in part it's to do with the fact that we have seen it all before with the Freespace quotes and jokes.

I always find it interesting to note that, for quite a while, the Sims2 Forum was the busiest games forum on the Net, and yet, if you posted so much as a swearword on there, you got banned for a couple of weeks. That's why I get annoyed at 'The Forum is Dying'. General Discussion is a lot quieter, yes, but I'd hardly claim that was symbolic of the death of a forum. It's just the fact that people cannot be bothered to argue like they used to, they know it doesn't achieve anything and as we've got older, we've got more moderate and less inclined to Banana throwing.
