K.... so, it looks better all around in space. this is sweeeeeeeet!!
problem is:
(1) i've been robbed of my final cut scene, can't view it unless i do mission.
(2) can't figure out how to make my computer sam voice to shut the h311
up.
(3)my final mission cut scene went really dark. really dark.
and last(4) this is not confirmed, probably fixed itself but in clash of the titans ii, the bastion went all the way!!!! but i couldn,t get within appx. 1650 km or the game lagged baaaaad.

thanks be to karajorma among the others on replies, this place is neat!

anyone know where i can find a nifty ship making program like the guy doing fs2h has?

(2) - Go to the FSO launcher -> Speech and untick the boxes

What do you mean about being robbed of the cutscenes though?

How did you install FSO by the way?

As for how to make your own ships. My FAQ has a modding section that mioht prove useful to you.

alright, i had a brain fart with the voice thing, figured it out about two seconds after posting

installed by going here... http://scp.indiegames.us/news.php
and using this
http://www.geocities.com/turey_the_king ... NSTALL.htm
then went online and searched for "openAL" as the finished install asked of me. that was pretty much it.

as for robbed, i mean that i beat the game, saw the ending movie, and the one of the bastion nuking jump node, but it didn't put it in tech room so i could watch the video at leisure.

Ah. I'm not certain what caused that. I'd probably need to look at the code to check.

Did it put the first half of the final cutscene in or neither part?

ummm it was 2 separate cut scenes and neither of them.

Sorry for getting ya worked up. I went through again, this time the movie worked right AND it gave me both ending scenes and "bastion dies".
But know this!
You are some cool people, and I will be back!
('specially if i need help with my next project, FRED, and the ship making. btw, is blender good, or is there a better {easier} tool?) :)

Blender is good, though I've never really been able to get into it (the interface was a mess when I tried it years ago, and since then I've moved on to 3DS Max). VA swears by Blender, however, and makes some awesome stuff with it, so it's perfectly capable of doing FS modding. If you're hanging aorund here he'll probably be able to help you out in some cases as well.

And you have some pretty competent FREDders here too to help you with problems.

And I have to pimp my FAQ out to beginners. There's a lot of very useful information about FRED in there.

If you have a logical, mathmatical mind, (do not be thrown by this, it is easy even if you have the logic of a bear) FREDing will be the easiest thing you have ever done. With a decent knowledege of the extent of possible script options and a logical mind to put to it all, you can do anything.

In fact, i'm working on a cutting edge-type mission right now, but progress is sluggish, and i'm busy...

It is easily possible to create missions of a better standard than some of the Volition missions, and to get you started you should go into FRED and the Help section and try the extended walkthrough. This shows you how to make a detailed mission that is actually quite fun. But don't forget to look through Karajormas' FAQ when you have the time.

:evil3:
and, if i can make my own ships, i wont need to use that eyesore the hades!

once again, kevin (that's me) has a problem (still, just forgot to reiterate).
When I get close, say = < 1600 metres, my game lags wwwwaaaaaayyyyyyy the he11 down. Any ideas on fixing this?
and, i see i downloaded (as part of the fs2o package?) some campaigns. praytell, how do I play them???

and uh... how long was your campaign. is 28 or so missions too much? will i need to cut some if anyone wants to try it out?

and what's this bazooka fodder thing? 'zookas are cool, but 120 mm cannons'r cooler!

Less than 1600 till what? If it is a giant ship eg The Colosuss or something then this is understandable due to it's high poly amount. You will lag up pretty bad in some situations, at least unless you have a better PC then me :P

But there are several ways to fix this, you could reduce your graphics settings, or you could remove your graphics Media VPs. But unless you are will ing to wade through a bit o' lag, then keep them but take out mp_adveffects. This is a major contributer to the lag. But if you want some hairs on your chest, or wish to die of boredom, then keep it all in ;)

Well, if you downloaded some campaigns (I am assuming that you installed them too) then go into the Main Hall in FSO and click on the 'Campaign' area thingie. Then find the campaign you want to try and change it to it. Do this under another name though as you can only have one set of campaign information per player.

Well Bazooka Fodder basically means that guys like Hunter and Flip are gonna Asplode your ass from lack of posts. As you have no doubt guessed, the more posts you have made (useful, no spams plz kthnxbai) the higher the rank you get. You are just but a lowly grunt as of now. I remember my times as 'zook fodder... lol. But if you want 120mms your gonna have to talk to the guys at Hunters' Naval base. Unless they have them mounted on the Psamtik, in which case you should talk to Vasudan Admiral :D

the colly is low poly. you would ahve to have a 30 year old gfx card for that. if you like the animated glowmaps and other pretty things in mv_adeffects, do the following:

extract everything in the "maps" directory oof mp_710adveffects to mediavps/data/maps

extract anything starting with "beam" in mv_adveffects to effects

delet both said .vp files after this is done.

enjoy fs2 with the pretty animated glows/beams with no or little lag.

this is what i did, and i only have a 128 mb gfx card, a 2 gigaurtz proccessor, and 1 gb of ram.
