i over heard some crazy talk that TS 3.2 can be used to do basic tile texture paint job on models, i.e. theiving tile maps from the VP and using them to do a first timers paint job, is this true?
here is what i do know.
TS hates...i mean HATES PCX files, but loves ever so tenderly BMP files. so the trick is to convert pcx to bmp which im guessing photo or print shop or something would come into play here, yes? or a simple converter...
and would freespce even recognize and use TS's paint job?
is there a better way?
was it a mistake to make my first ship a multi turret cap?
what have i gotten into? lol

1) If you have Photoshop or PSP both of them should have batch conversion options which make the conversion easy for you. If not try www.irfanview.com for a quick and easy solution.

2) If you have a file called mytexture.bmp in your model when FS2 runs it will look for mytexture.tga then mytexture.dds then mytexture.jpg and finally mytexture.pcx.

3) I generally find capships an easier starting point than fighters. Especially if you can get the hang of multipart turrets early on.

What are you making? If it is a smallish ship (say, cruiser or below) consider UVing rather than going straight for the tiles. And before anyone says tiling is easier, I've never, ever been able to figure out how to tile texture properly, but I'm semi competent at UVing and painting.

So nyah.
