Does anyone here have the title of or similar to

ULTIMATE OVERLORD OF CONVERSION!!!!!

Because I have finally remembered that I can model anything in a matter of seconds with a modeling program that I have been using all of my life so far, which I have finally obtained, but I have no idea about FS2 recognisable formats.

Can someone tell me how to convert a .des file and possibly WHAT TO CONVERT IT TO.

Once again I am in a field of modding in which I have absolutly have no idea about anything. I should stick to FREDing...

*sniffles*

Stratcomm over on HLP is the one who lays claim to that title.

While others are good you know you're dealing with someone who really knows what they're doing when they whip out a hex editor to solve model problems. :D

That said although I have no idea what a .des format is, if you can change it into a working .cob, .max or .3ds file you can probably get it converted.

So, I go and ask Stratcomm right?

In a related incident, he was they guy who started me modding for freespace when I found out about the GTDn Archangel!

By the way, in that thread I still do not quite know exactly what to do with those TBM things you told me about. I can do them for Ships but I don't know how to do it for anything else, e.g for weapons the *ship class thing at the top of the .TBM file would be?...

See that thread for details.

Modular tables are actually pretty simple. You basically take the ship, weapon or whatever entry and stick it in a file of its own. You then give it the correct filename and you're done.

The advantage of modular tables is if something is wrong you instantly know which entry is to blame and can simply remove it till you fix it.
