So, I went out yesterday. First I was hanging about Glasgow;

Until I got a chippy and went on the train to Edinburgh;

And then went to a concert in Princes Street Gardens;

Support was a Glasweigan band called Camera Obscura, who turned out to be really good (even if the lead singer gave the impression of being nervous as hell when not singing);

It was getting a bit dark - and parky - by this point

And it was pretty baltic by the time the main act - Belle & Sebastian - got on stage. What you can't see, is about 2 or 300 people behind hedges because the good 'seats' (well, stone steps facing the stage) were all taken by people like me, who got in an hour before CO came on.

It was, however, bloody ace (even if it's hard to take decent photies in dark-with-bright stage)

And then I went home, after - but not because - my camera had ran out of batteries.

Glasgow's a nice place to walk around, though sometimes the Buskers are a bit much. My biggest handicap is, alas, a London accent. Most of the time people are fine, but there's always one or two who either assume I'm either there to invade or talk about 1966....

Glasgow is nice n'all, but like many UK cities, unless the old style is your thing, it looks really grey and aged.

When was the last time you were in Glasgow? The main shopping areas are pretty new-ish, I think, although wander 2 or 3 blocks off the main street and it does get quite a bit rustier.

Hum.. lets think... 1999 perhaps I know, there are modern things ... But the rust is present, especially in some of those old streets where the houses are plastered together

Yeah, but that's not really in the city centre nowadays, only the 'burbs. I'm biased, of course, but I always reckoned Glasgow was a nicer city than London, based on my trips down south (albeit only to the financial bit of London). Edinburgh is probably nicer looking though, simply because it's older and has a huge park in the centre of it.

I agree. And I dislike London the most tbh... But I've always been quite affectionate towards far eastern cities that combine the most modern stuff possible with the oldest (i.e Tokyo), while still having a nice amount of green and space. New York city on the other hand, it's a concrete jungle, just... no anything... just buildings.

Ummm, I love New York. It's a concrete jungle but I love it. I can walk around and cares about no one, and no one cares about me It's fun and the city never sleeps I love Boston more though, because it's older and classier.

Not sure if I like Tokyo. It's too much of everything to my liking. I like London and I think it's miles better than Tokyo.

I'm pretty weird, I love either really old or very modern things. Perhaps I get the influence from my older brother who's an architect (also a very good painter and excellent cook)

Boston's pretty nice. It's not that old when comparing with UK cities. Oh, one thing I should mention is that I love REALLY old cities... Like Venice and such

Oh, yes... Venice's lovely. It's on my list of places to visit I plan to spend 6 months in Europe at some point so I can have a proper castle 'hunting' trip. I will probably have to wait till my ortho treatment's over (in Dec 2007) because I have to get my braces adjusted every 4 weeks which make it's harder for me to have a 6 month vacation
