I had Freespace 2 on my old computer. I got rid of it and got a new computer. But I lost my Freespace 2 CD's. I know there are places you can download the CD image. I found one but the website's bandwidth limit had been reached. Does anyone know where I can find the full Cd images so I can install the program on my new computer?

You're in luck
You can find a bunch of links to the full retail game
here.
I suggest however that you try out the top link on that page. It's not just FS2 Retail but a full install of FS2_Open. If you liked FS2 you'll love Open.

Any links of where I can get it in a non torrent file? I have Bit Torrent but I cant download most files very fast with it. It seems that because there are not enough hosts online the download is very slow. And furthermore it comes in multiple file pieces and I do not know how to combine it into one file.

Not certain about the v1.8 full download but you can always download one of the other links and build your own FS2_Open install by following the installation guide in my FAQ.
I know for certain that the HotU link is a http download (It's also the smallest of the lot). A few of the others should work too.

Considering you can download them elsewhere in Avi format and FS2_Open can play that in-game, not really.
That said you'll have a problem understanding the ending without the cinematics. The real story with Bosch is also basically all contained in the cutscenes too.

Never mind the file downloaded at 90 kb/sec so it was not that bad. I got it but now I am haveing a problem with it.
The game installed on my computer fine. I can get the game to run but it crashes randomly. Sometimes during the mission brief and sometimes early in the mission. I get the "this program has encountered an error and needs to close" message that is standard with windows. Then it asks me if I want to send an error report or not. The other problem is once and a while I will be playing and all of a sudden the "space" in the mission turns white. Well space is not ment be white. Its suppose to be black. So that’s a problem too. Anyone have any ideas? I just bought my computer. Its brand new. It's a Dell and it has:
-XP Home SP2
-80 gig HD
-512 MB RAM
-64 MB virtual memory with Intel Extreme Graphics 2 graphics card
-2.4 GHz. Intel Celeron D processor

Hmmm. I was hoping that 1.8 was new enough to avoid those problems.
Go
here and grab a copy of 3.6.9 RC4 and the two patch VPs. The VPs go in your mediavps folder. The builds go in your main FS2 folder. Run the launcher and click on browse. Choose the newly installed build (not the _d or _debug version) and try again.

So do I download all three of these:
http://fs2source.warpcore.org/exes/3.6.9-RC4.rar
New and improved! Now with exactly the same stuff as RC3!
You'll need to get the alpha patches for the MediaVPs, if you don't have them already:
- to fix mv_effects.vp: mv_alphapatch.rar
- to fix mv_adveffects.vp: mv_advalphapatch.rar
And can they stay in the .rar format or do I need to change them to a different format of some type? I do not have anything on my computer to read the .rar format.

Surely the download package was in the .rar format?
Anyway winRar or 7Zip will deal with .rar quite nicely. Winzip should do so too. Typing any of those names into Google will take you to their home pages.

Now things are 10X worse! I downloaded those three files and used WinRAR to extract them to the folders you said and now the game just locks my computer up. The first time I opened the game the program locked up as soon as I pushed the "commit" button in the briefing lobby. And after that I could not even get past the opening movie. When the movie started to play the monitor went crazy and just displayed a bunch of weird colors and the computer locked up. The sound of the movie kept playing but not the video.
Here is where the files were extracted to:

Hmmm. Those pics are a little too small for me actually see anything in them. Can you post them a little larger please?
What happens if you go to the troubleshooting options (on the features tab of the launcher) and choose Disable Video Playback?

Its all here:

The pics did not seem to turn out right when I posted them here.
Also I disabled the video playback. That fixes the problem of the computer locking up with the intro movie but it still locks up as soon as I push the "commit" button in the mission briefing lobby.

I'm going to stop answering here and stick to HLP. Trying to troubleshoot a problem in two places is a recipe for disaster.
