Hi folks,

I'm planning to create some decent ships for FS2, but im not sure what programs to use. I already have Vpview32 and Aniview32. What else would I need to create a fully functional ship, ready for importing into FS2?
If anyone knows, can you plz reply? :D

Hope to hear from you,

You'll need some way to convert it. Modelview is okay at this but PCS is better.

You'll obviously need some sort of modelling software if you haven't got some and depending on what you choose you may want UV mapping and file convertion programs.

Pretty much everything you may need is linked to in my FAQ though. Go to the tool and modding pages for help. If you have any questions beyond that we'll be happy to help.

Practice. Much, much practice. ;)

You can model in Truespace but it is a bit tricky. Maybe learn blender or another program? :)

OK, i got blender 2.41 and installing it. That should be all rite? I found a tutorial that wil get me as far as full model creation but after that, im not too sure.

On second thought, im not too sure. Should i try doing a reskinned model of an FS2 ship? All efforts to create my own model have been failing.

Why have you been having problems with making your own models?

You might want to try Truespace again. There are a lot of people who hate it but others find it works pretty well.

Yeah, find the best program style that suits you. :)
Don't forget you can't expect to make a masterpiece on your first try.

Keep making ships, then learning from them and making new ones or constantly improving on them.

It takes alot of passion and effort to truly master modelling and texturing. But if you put the time into it mate, it should pay off one day.

Otherwise yeah, try your hand in other fields like texture creation / modification.

You're right on one thing....these programs can be tricky. Netherless, I'm coming up with something.

By the way, would any of you guys like an FS2 music mod that allows all command briefings and/or ingame music from Fs1 to be avaliable?
I've done some experimenting and it works well.

I'm buggered....my game kept going hayware so I had to reinstall. Lost some good mods but at least I still have my modelling programs.

I'm lost for ideas.....can someone give me a hand?

Trying all the ideas i come up with....but during part of it, something doesn't feel right. I need to come up with some good plan, and fast. I'm serious, all my ideas aren't good.

LoL.
Well what ideas?
Ships, textures, missions?

Maybe you could try joining a mod team or something?

Anyway, I'm off to bed. Nighty nites. ;)

Ships is da thing I'm trying to work on.
Weapons and ship modification.....yeah sure. I can handle that. But creating ships.....hell no. I have no idea what to make.

Bit tricky to work out, ain't it?

Wait a sec, I got an idea.........do you know of a way to get Fs2 textures so they're useable in Truespace? I had a good idea, but to finish it off, I need to have some textures avaliable.

I'll continue with my planning.....
