UK high street retailer DSG, owner of the Dixons and Curry's store chains, has been slapped on the wrist by advertising watchdog the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for claiming a £499 PC contained "the latest 64-bit AMD processor" when... er... it didn't.

Now seriously, who thought that a £500 PC would contain a £600 processor?


What really makes me laugh is that there was only one complaint. Which makes me wonder if we aren't seeing the start of a brand new sport. Maybe we can all try nitpicking and sending in complaints. I wonder if the Crazy Frog advert ever mention it being good. Cause that's trades descriptions right there!

I once complained to a local radio station about their "we play fewer commercials" after timing them and discovering they played 10 minutes more commericals than anyone else.

Although a few weeks later they stopped using that for advertisement.

damn right.

The whole Dixons Group needs burning to the ground anyway. They _all_ own the most annoying adverts on TV, they _all_ overprice and lie their faces off, they are _all_ staffed by idiots urging to give you a contract and they all smell of s###, basically.

PC World annoys me the most.

It's especially funny cause most of the staff actually at PC world don't have a f#####g clue.

"Hi, in your advert you said you do a Packard Bell S3453452 with $!#£%£$5 with super grand fanastic hyper-threading technology.."
"Whaaaa? Is this a joke?"

the constant Intel pimping really starts to get up my bum.

I use it as a giant warning sign.

"Our PCs all have INTEL PROCESSORS!!!!111"

You might as well have said

"Our PCs all have a slot that vomits horseshit directly into your face when you turn them on"

for all that it makes me want to buy something from that manufacturer.

Can we start a rant about TV channels yet? I have a book to write about ITV.
