There has been a few time when I've wanted to show my net buddies what descent looks like, so I want to let them watch a few of my demos I've made in Descent 2&3. But since it requires Descent to view... I was wondering if anybody had a converter or something
Thanks!!!

At least for D3, and I'd assume for D2, the demo files aren't able to be converted. They're simply a record of game data relating to ship/robot motions, weapons fire, etc. The game engine reads this data and uses it to reconstruct the recorded scene. To actually create movies, you'd have to use a video-capture program such as
Fraps.

If showing them the game is your sole goal, you could simply link them to existing recordings of each game. I know of some for D3 that can be found
here (the second on the list, Descent 4 Ever, would be excellent for your purposees).
I've never seen/looked for D2 vids, maybe someone else has and can fill that gap. I'll go looking tomorrow and let you know if I come up with anything.

IMO there needs to be more fan made vids.

Blah, I can't find anything for D2 aside from its largely non-functional trailer.

Frapping is a new thing, back then it was pretty much limited to a handheld camcorder. If D3 had came out in 2003, then I imagine it would be a pretty regular thing to see fan videos.
